This trophy records winners of a pairs competition each year from 1953 to 2016 with a gap in the years 1986-2001 inclusive.

Significance

The Emerald Country Club was built in the late 1920s on remnant land of the Gembrook Nurseries as an American-style country club. The golf course and the club house were a significant part of Emerald community life for over 80 years.

Inscriptions & markings

The trophy is a large, heavy silver cup on a solid marble-type dark base. Inscription on the cup is: Emerald Cup / Four Ball Best Ball'. The cup is inscribed around the edge with the names of winning pairs each year from 1986 to 1995. The base is inscribed with the lists of winning pairs each year from 1953 to 1985 on the top tier. Winning pairs each year from 2002 to 2016 are inscribed on the bottom tier.
