This book about the uses etc of Eucalyptus is dedicated to Joseph Bosisto 1824 - 1898. He was an Australian pioneer, who in 1852 was the first person to produce eucalyptus oil commercially and who spent the next 45 years forstering its use worldwide. Bosisto set up distilleries in the Emerald and Macclesfield areas in the 1870s.

Significance

The distillation of eucalyptus oil was one of the first industries in the Emerald area.
