Significance

Motorola Inc has the distinction of pioneering the first portable phone in 1973. It was shaped like a brick and weighed 2.4lb. Like some other companies, Motorola was not able to quickly adapt and evolve in the competitive smartphone industry - its market share had declined to 6% by 2009. Motorola is now owned by Lenovo Group Limited, a Chinese company.

Physical description

Two Motorola mobile phones. C168 (released 2005) and CEO168 (also released 2005). Both are flip phones. Part of a collection of mobile phones donated by a local resident.
