Historical information

Beryl Collett (1925-2018) made a range of beautiful needlework, lacework, beaded bags, enamel work, metal engravings, soft dolls and other forms of craft. Some of these won first prizes in state-wide Country Women's Association competitions. Beryl was a single woman who was an accountant in her working life. She had a close engagement with her church and with the natural beauty of the Dandenong Ranges. Her artwork is evocative of that beauty.

Significance

The Dandenongs have been the chosen home of many creative people who, like Beryl, have found inspiration in the natural beauty of the area. Her work also epitomises the potential of the retirement phase of people's lives.

Physical description

Four small, decorated saucers - enamel on copper and three enamel buckles. One of the saucers is shaped and decorated like the wing of a butterfly. The other three are round. The buckles are square and have the same flower design but in different colours. Designed and made by Kallista woman, Beryl Collett.
