Historical information

This plaque is believed to have been made by Gus Ryberg when he was a student at Emerald State School circa 1920. Gus Ryberg (1911-2000) worked tirelessly to promote Emerald's history. He was pivotal to the establishment of the Nobelius Heritage Park and the Emerald Museum.

Significance

This object was made by a person who was significant in the preservation of Emerald's history.

Physical description

Processed timber 3 ply. Timber wall plaque featuring a kookaburra and a magpie sitting on opposite ends of a boomerang shaped tree branch. Each bird is coloured to show wings, beak, eye and tail.
The reverse side has 5 pieces of masking tape with the message, "Gus Ryberg made this at Primary School".
