Postcard of rural and forest landscape in the Emerald area. The text on the reverse is a message to family describing the weather and the location written in December 1942. The writer, Pops, was staying at the La Belle guesthouse which was located in the centre of the Emerald township.

Dear Mum, Here I am at last to tell you that we are both 6. K. & feeling the benefit of the holiday; eating and sleeping better than for considerable time.
It rains a good deal up this way, so we have to make the best of the good weather. Was going to ring you today, but was too wet to go to the P. Office. I trust you are keeping well & I will tell you of the place when I return. My kindest regards to Mrs Bryant & trust she is well also. So until next week, cheerio, lots of love. Pops xxx
