.A cordial factory was established in Koroit Street, Warrnambool by John Davis and this business was taken over in the 1880s by John Fletcher. Ralph Reeves, who had been involved in the cordial making business in Warrnambool since 1900, bought the Koroit Street business in 1931. His son Reginald John acquired the business in 1946 and was actively involved until his death in 1972. The factory continued until the 1980's.Cordial and soft drink bottles were sold under a deposit scheme where empty bottles were returned for a small amount , 3d or 6d and then reused.

Significance

This is a common object which was popular during the 20th century. The deposit scheme provided a source of income for enterprising children to collect discarded bottles for their pocket money.

Physical description

Round clear glass bottle with raised lettering on the side. The neck has an orange screw-in stopper.
