Physical description
The fire crew is posed on a Hotchkiss Hose Carriage which were introduced between 1913 -1925. Originally shipped to Australia as standard touring cars, they were acquired by the MFB during the First World War and converted into specialized fire service vehicles and fitted with 30ft extension ladders, 1,000ft of canvas hose and rotary pump.
The historic Williamstown Fire Station No. 43, was located at 182 Cecil Street, and operated under the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) from 1892.
