Historical information

The article appeared in 'The Village Observer' (the local publication for residents of Lane Cove and Northern Sydney suburbs) on page 27, in July 1999.
It opens with..
"Alice Clarke of Greenwich Red Cross has sent us this letter from Sister Betty Jeffrey who was with Alice's sister, Mary, just prior to the fall of Singapore. The letter to Alice and Mary's mother explained the circumstances of the nurses that were involved in the War. It is a very tragic and compelling story and a vital record of our history."
