The Sydney Olympic Games of 2000 was a defining sporting event as Australia entered the twenty-first century. This small rare item carries all that defined both the Games and the city of Sydney at the time.
Significance
Over forty years since the Olympic Games were first hosted in Australia at Melbourne in 1956 the 2000 Games in Sydney again saw the release of many souvenir items. Among these ephemeral items such as bookmarks were often discarded after a short time and few remain. This small bookmark carries the logo and characters of Millie, Olley and Syd together with Sydney landmarks developed for the Games in one small item.
