Physical description

Silver oval shaped medallion in case, with ribbon. Front of medallion carries the crest of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). Text engraved on front of medallion around the crest reads 'AUSTRALIAN REGIONAL COUNCIL/ROYAL COLLEGE OF OBSTETRICIANS AND GYNAECOLOGISTS'. Medallion is attached to a blue ribbon with two silver stars at the base of the ribbon, adjacent to the medallion. Back of medal is engraved with the text 'SIR BRIAN SWIFT/CHAIRMAN/1953-1956/AUSTRALIAN/REGIONAL COUNCIL'. Hallmarks on back of medallion carry the initials JP (for John Pinches), lion passant (for sterling silver), leopard's head (for London) and a calligraphy 'I' (for 1964). Medallion is housed in a blue case with blue felt covered insert. Silk lining inside lid of the case is printed with the logo for silversmith John Pinches, London. The top of the case has a thin, rectangular golden border around the edge of the top.
