Historical information

This is a set of 43 photographs of CAPT GW Kenney touring through the production areas and messes of the Army Survey Regiment (ASR) , Fortuna, Bendigo on leaving the unit 1978. They are particularly important as a 1978 snapshot set of many members of the Army Survey Regiment photographed in their workplaces. Unfortunately, not all workplaces have been represented, however a large number have been. The majority of individuals in these photographs who were serving at the Army Survey Regiment at the time have been named. 39156 Capt GW Kenney served in the Australian Army from 6 Jan 1967 till 1 Aug 2000. He commenced his career within the RASvy Corps until 1978 and after completing his religious training went on to serve as an Army Chaplin for the remainder of his 30yr Army career. He officiated at many significant Survey Corps ceremonial and social occasions in his Chaplin capacity. These photos on negative film form part of 69 printed photos in a Photo Album presented to Gary Kenney by members of the ASR Officers Mess. Pages from the photo album were scanned in JPEG format and converted into a MPEG - 4 video file format. The video is published with Item 6032. Capt Kenney gave his permission for the scanning of the Album by the ExFortuna Survey Association Inc. As there are additional photos of the tour appngeari inith the video that are not in this set of photos, it seems that the negatives stored in Folder 6 are incomplete. Photo .4P has previously been published with item 6064.9P.
