South Gippsland Shire Council’s Arts and Civic Memorabilia Collection exists to showcase the culture and history of South Gippsland Shire and surrounding area.
Please note that much of the collection is in storage and not on display. Selected items are available for viewing during exhibitions and within our buildings.

Ceramic outdoor sculpture featuring 15 clay pipe forms of various heights and designs. Decorated with a range of diferent designs and paint slips. Water pumped through each pipe to make a waterfeature in the council garden.
Framed embroidery from the Jinshan Peasant Painting Academy. Features a group of blue and white ducks tied and hanging by legs from a central pole forming a fan shape. Set in blue and red card window mount with gold painted frame.
Brass plaque commemorating the opening of the Foster Hall in memory of those who died in war. Hall opened 12th November 1966 by the Govenor of Victoria. Plaque features raised text; fixed to brown wood mount.
Mounted timber honour board. Features gold inscriptions and names of soldiers who died in WWI and WW2. Light coloured wood board with darker wood edging.

Framed quilt depicting Woorayl Shire boundries. Features animals, sea, boat and birds. Embroidered and sewn in fabric, wool and thread. Engraved brass plaque affixed to lower edge. Brown textured wood frame, perspex case covering entire work. Sitting on purpose built ledge.
Brass plaque mounted on wood board. Features Australian Crest above Olympic rings affixed to top with smaller plate affixed to bottom. The lower plate features raised text and engraving.

Polished wood carved honour board. Titled Roll of Honour for Mardan State School No. 2516. features gold painted names totalling 21.
Polished wood honour board dedicated to the soldiers of the Mardan District who fought in WWII. Features in alphabetical order the names of local men who enlisted and those who paid the surpreme sacrifice and died. Includes three military emblems featured at the top. All text painted in gold lettering.
Framed newspaper clipping dated 30 August 1912 titled: 'Opening of Mardan South Hall/ Banquet and Ball/Mrs J. E. Mackey Declare Hall Open". Set in brown wood frame with brass plaque affixed on wall below frame. Plaque reads: "Mardan Hall Opening 28 August 1912'

Carved wooden trophy on stand. Dark polished wood; features five carved rounded shapes fixed with dowel onto a square wood base. Under base is written "ANDREW POTOCNIK/"SENTINEL" 1/9/REDGUM" Brass engraved plates affixed to each side of the base.
Wood plaque with silver engraved plate affixed to front. Features a map of Victoria in the centre and logoat bootom edge. Dark polished timber.
Two Sands & McDougall heavy duty folders. Brown textured surface, heavy card covers with metal clips inside. "Shire of Mirboo" label inside front cover with typed "Prayer to Open Council Meeting". Sands & McDougall No.551. Texta numbers on spine 21 & 23.
Letter to Woorayl Shire from the City of Burnie thanking Shire for their best wishes on occasion of Proclamation of City of Burnie on 29 April 1988.
