Yendon History Group, formed in 2009, researches information and collects items and photographs related to our small town which is 15 km south-east of Ballarat. Originally called Buninyong East, Yendon was a thriving railway town, with churches, hotels, shops and sporting teams, but is now a commuter village still surrounded by farmland. Our small collection is housed at the Recreation Reserve meeting room.

Sketch was done as a sample of the artist's work when a drawing was sought to be the picture of the station on the interpretive sign planted at Yendon station. Although this is an excellent interpretation of the station building, it was thought to be too detailed for the purpose.

The sign is shown in photo P , taken on the western platform in 1967. Just prior to demolition of the station, the sign was taken by Ian Smith of Buninyong, and kept by him until its donation to the YHG.

This book was used as a record of corporal punishment to children at the Yendon State School between the 1920's until 1972. It has the signatures of the teachers of the period and dated.
Inside the front cover it has a list of rules related to disipline and how the corporal was to be carried out.
Grey book with No.719 on front cover which was used as a register for corporal punishment. It has had several pages torn out. The first recorded date of entry is 8/6/33 until 22/7/1982.

Used to record the absences of teachers at Yendon Public School from 1904 to 1983. Instructions for used printed inside the front cover. Gives dates and reason for absence, and countersigned periodically by the District Inspector.
It is significant because it lists the school staff for a long period. It is also socially significant because it gives information about staff training, health issues, family details and weather.
Small grey paper covered book used at Yendon Public School (no. 719) to record the absences of school teachers, from 1904 to 1983. The spine is bound with blue tape. The pages have torn away from the cover, which is torn and water-marked.
