Survey Corps Flags of this type were produced mid to late 1970's and distributed to all Survey Corps Units. This flag was issued to the Army Survey Regiment, Bendigo and flew during daylight hours on the Unit flag pole at Fortuna Villa for many years. The flag was ceremonially marched out of the gate on the day that the Army Survey Regiment was disbanded in 1996. Flag made from nylon or a similar synthetic, sewn into a white nylon circular section and then slipped over the dowel and stapled into position with words "100 years of trams". The Red Ensign was the only flag private citizens could fly on land. The first Seafarers Service was held on 23 October 1905 in the St Paul's Cathedral in London to celebrate the Centenary of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson on 21 October 1805. Reverend Alfred Gurney Goldsmith launched the first Seafarers Service two years later and the first service was held on Sunday 10 November 1907. National and house flags are used during the annual Seafarers Service. This flag was issued to 4 Fd Svy Sqn and flew during daylight hours on the Unit flag pole at Keswick Barracks, Adelaide from issue until 1995. The flag was signed by about 160 of the 208 attendees at the Ceremonial closing of the Unit on 25 November 1995. The King's Colour was presented to 8th Indi Light Horse in 1920 for service in the Great War. It, together with the 1904 Colour, was laid up in the Anglican Church Benalla. In 1976 both colours were found in a cupboard at the church. The 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles Regiment arranged for a case for the colours to be mounted on the wall at the church. In the early eighties it became necessary to remove the case to allow building work at the church and the case and colours were donated to the 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles Regimental Collection.Representative example of a King's Colour dating from 1920 presented to a Light Horse Regiment with a close connection to regional Victoria.
