Air Raid Precautions Organisations were formed in each State in Australia during the Second World War. In Victoria they were organised by the State Emergency Council (Victoria) for Civil Defence. In Melbourne, the organisations were locally based in municipalities. Within a municipality, areas were organised into sectors.Twelve point instructions distributed by the District Warden's Office, Town Hall, Kew in June 1940 and issued by the authority and with the approval of the Kew City Council, W. The Adult Deaf and Dumb Society of Victoria, now known as Vicdeaf, (the Victorian Deaf Society), was founded in 1884 as the Victorian Society for Promoting the Spiritual and Temporal Welfare of the Adult Deaf and Dumb. The provisional committee being Mr W Bates, Mr J M Bruce, Mr J D Gowan, Mr Edwin Newbiggin, Mr C M Officer, M. L, A., and the Rev. W. Moss. The Adult Deaf and Dumb Mission's objects were: 1. He had multiple copies of this photo, which may have been obtained with the aim of distributing them to other platoon members. Leslie George Lobb - born 15 July 1920 in Box Hill; married Elizabeth Annie Stephenson in 1954; died 14 Nov. 1997. Leslie became a service station / garage proprietor at 352 Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert a business he took over from his father. An associated mechanical business operated under the name of Leo Green Motors, at the same address. The family lived next door at 354 Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert. Leslie's father Harry Lobb had operated at an adjoining property (350 Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert) as a fuel and ice merchant, before installing a petrol bowser to service the expanding motor car industry. The house at 354 Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert was removed and relocated by the family in 2000 to Mirboo North, Gippsland, Victoria, where it still stands.The photo is a touchstone to local servicemen who served in World War 2.A B&W / sepia photo with a narrow white border of 25 men in uniform. Some writing on the rear identifies the subject. 2/A typewritten letter, (1 page) dated 1946 (no date more specific than that specified), from the Chairman & Honorary Treasurer of the Caulfield Central RSL Appeal Committee (name unspecified) to the Mayor of Caulfield (name also unspecified), imploring the latter for a donation of $20,000 dollars for purposes of constructing a Memorial Hall to eulogize servicemen killed during WWII. Some rough working notes on rear side. 3/A flyer, undated (although presumably published in 1950), printed by Peter Isaacson Pty. Ltd., advertising a concert presented by the Ugly Ugly Man (Frank M. Beard) and the Malvern Tramways’ Harmonica Band to be held at Caulfield Town Hall on 06/06/1950 to assist the Welfare Funds of the Caulfield Central RSL and the Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen’s Mothers’ Association. Also contains an advertisement for a drapery business called Tallents. 4/The annual report of the Caulfield Central RSL, for the period 1952 – 1953. Contains announcements of the annual general meeting and annual elections, the President’s report (in which he principally discusses the club’s charity work and sporting activities), the subcommittee staff roster, the sportsmen’s honour roll, the annual accounts (e.g. balance sheet, income & expenditure statement) and the roster of nominees for office in the committee of management election. 5/A typewritten letter, (1 page) dated 26/11/1982, from Max Brian Blair, Treasurer of the Caulfield Central RSL, to Mr. R. Organisation-Club/society-sport3767.4a: A receipt of purchase from Henry Jackson, General ironmonger and Iron merchant, by Mr F.D. Jones (labelled as secretary on the receipt/treasure in other documents) on behalf of the Devils Own Cricket club. The receipt is a professionally made, printed template printed on blue/purple coloured limed paper with red margins. The transactions made by Mr Jones are handwritten in cursive font with black ink. The receipt indicates that payment was made to Mr Jackson on the 10th and 25th of March 1875. the pound was used as currency. 3767.4b: This receipt is dated March 25th 1875. Detailing the repair of a cricket ball. W.B. Fox, a saddler and harness marker, executed the repairs. The receipt is a professionally made, printed template in black ink on a light blue sheet of lined paper with red margins. The purchase order and payment remarks are handwritten in cursive with black ink. Pounds were used a currency. 3767.4c: This receipt is entirely handwritten in cursive with black ink on a torn rectangular piece of blue coloured paper. There is no official printing or branding on the receipt. The receipt details the purchase of a cricket ball by the Treasurer of the DOCC in March 1875 from F. Macoboy. The page has a large red stain/smudge in the top right-hand corner. 3767.4d: This professionally printed receipt is printed in black ink on a rectangular piece of white/cream coloured paper. The official branding is that of W. Welch, a general printer, binder etc. from Sandhurst. The record of the purchase of a 150-page record book for the DOCC by Mr. Jones is handwritten in cursive with black ink. The receipt is dated 8th March 1875 and payment was made on 9th March 1875. 3767.4e: This reciept is a handwritten note in black ink on a blue piece of lined paper no larger than a business card. The note, dated 1st March 1875, is addressed to Mr. F Jones, Hon Treasurer Devils Own C.C. The note is written by R.W. Franklyn in reference to 3767.4c and reads as follows: "Please pay M'acoboy 5/- price of ball" 3767.4f: This receipt in professionally printed in black ink on a blue coloured, lined paper. The branding refers to Henry Jackson, as per 3767.4a, and details the purchase of cricket equipment by the Law C.C.
