Covers the history of the horse trams, the electrification by the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria, (ESCo) the takeover by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), closure in 1971, the formation of the BTPS and the operation of the tramway. Tram has destination of "Sebastopol" with a Bourne? Liquid Plastic (varnish) ad on the front panel of the tram. Has the Commonwealth bank in the background. Adjacent to a pole is a ESCo / SEC electrical connection / switch box on the left hand side of the tram, which is part of the power supply or distribution system. Date of photo on folder - 5/9/1959. Yields information about the method that the State Electricity Commission of Vic undertook interviews for staff appointments. Gave advice of the era for such interviews and objectives of the interview.Thirty page book printed on heavy light brown paper, stapled with an folded card cover titled "The Automaticket Bell Punch System of Fare Collection and Control". Describes the Automaticket system, has samples of traffic tickets pasted in the book, diagrams, drawings, gives details of the components and method of operation in particular ticket inspection, ticket and checking back office functions. Published by the Bell Punch Company of London early to mid 1930's? Cover and each page headed "Confidential Information for Executives". In the rear cover of the book, folded and stapled to give a pocket, are listed three forms that would have been provided with the book - not with the collected copy. -However in the pocket were eleven 11 "Ticket Issue Machine" or "TIM" tickets - eg City of South Melbourne library fine, packing slips, sample meal tickets, Army canteen beer tickets, and sample bus tickets - including one pinned to a business card - John Bolland of Eastern Suburbs Omnibus Service who were the agents for the TIM machines. Significant in being a sheet regarding tramcar braking systems and how considered at the time - 1950. No mention of sand in braking technique.Was contained within Reg Item 3519 in which located in the filing cabinet 8/2006. Small typed carbon copy instruction or "Notice to All Traffic Staff" titled "Braking", discussing the names of emergency brake. Notes air braked trams have on emergency brake only - the air brake. Stopping trams electrically is not regarded as brake equipment, and should not be used unless air brake is defective. Dated 24/11/1950. Has a strong association with Elvie Phillips - at the time of the closure of the SEC system in Ballarat.Set of four colour prints - were contain within a folder (see below) of Elvie Phillips and crews at the time of the closure of the Ballarat SEC system - September 1971. .1 - standing on the step of a bogie tram with crew member number 58 behind. .2 - City loop with two crew members on either side - and three bogie trams .3 - standing in front of a single trucker, City Loop - with the Union Hotel behind. .4 - sitting on the bumper of a single trucker, Wendouree Parade, Gardens area with a crew member alongside.
