The Directory was published by the former Shire of Bulla in 1994 - 1995 and was issued to residentsa living withing the Shire. It features details of public services which were available within the area at the time as well as maps of the settlements and some private advewrtisements.A 20 page booklet with an aerial photograph of the Greenvale Dam and surrounding area on the front cover. A green strip is along the spine of the booklet with the words 'Shire of Bulla' printed in white and 'Directory' printed in red. Debate about water supply and its planning and development took place in the Bacchus Marsh region from the 1850s through into the twentieth century. This plan was part of documentation to support an application for an additional loan of money from the Ministry of Water Supply to the Bacchus Marsh Shire Water Supply Trust. The plan includes the route of a proposed water channel in the Parwan area, and other features of water supply infrastructure such as the location of standpipes and gates are also shown on the plan.A single page paper map showing a general plan for the supply of water in the Bacchus Marsh area.The plan shows the route of the 'Main Channel' near the Werribee River and a proposed route for a Parwan Channel. The location of 'Dryden's House' near the Werribee River is also shown and the locations of land held by T. (Tom) Oliver and the Racecourse Reserve in Maddingley. Scale 40 chains to 1 inch. This glass door insert is one of a pair previously inserted into the entrance doors to the Shire of Diamond Valley offices in Greensborough. The Shire of Diamond Valley was a Local Government Area located about 20 kilometres northeast of Melbourne. The shire covered an area of 74.38 square kilometres and existed from 30/09/1964 until 1994. After the local government mergers of 1994, the Shire of Diamond Valley offices were used by the Nillumbik Council.This etched glass is a reminder of the Shire of Diamond Valley. This album pays tribute to the First World War service men who were born and / or lived in the Shire of Marong and were killed in action. Australia’s involvement in the First World War began when Britain and Germany went to war on 4 August 1914, and both Prime Minister Joseph Cook and Opposition Leader Andrew Fisher, who were in the midst of an election campaign, pledged full support for Britain. The outbreak of war was greeted in Australia, as in many other places, with great enthusiasm. For Australia, the First World War remains the costliest conflict in terms of deaths and casualties. From a population of fewer than five million, 416,809 men enlisted, of whom more than 60,000 were killed and 156,000 wounded, gassed, or taken prisoner. Large volume with screw post binding. Corduroy and leather front and back cover. Leather gold embossed title central front cover. Marbled pasted down end papers. Seventy four individual cream and maroon printed pages with decorative scrolls, illustrations and text. Alphabetised. Each page is dedicated to a service man who died in action, recording his name, address, service record and date of death. After going to a Revision Court where the voters' rolls had been revised and certified correct every voter on the Shire of Otway register was listed with his or her surname, christian names, residence or post town, nature of calling or occupation, situation and description of property, the yearly value, and the number of votes to which the incumbent was entitled. It included both local residents and residents from other municipalities who owned allotments in the Shire of Otway entitled to vote in Shire of Otway elections.Typescript.
