Rectangular chart made from printed and coated paper on a fabric base. The chart shows the upper torso of a human male. The chart is mounted at either end on timber batons using small metal tacks. Masking tape has been placed over the metal tacks in an attempt to repair the chart. The upper baton is moulded, while the lower baton is circular in cross-section. Both batons are stained black.Two screwed metal eyelets have been attached at either end of the upper baton for use in hanging the chart. A short length of brown/white cotton tape is attached to the mid-point of the upper baton with a metal tack. the tape is used to secure the chart after it has been rolled up.Printed on the RHS front face of the chart at bottom edge are the words 'All rights reserved'. This book of meteorological observations is dated May 1945. The book was published by the Commonwealth Meteorological Bureau, Victora Division. It was printed by L. F. Johnston, Commonwealth Government Printer, Canberra. Readings were recorded daily for barometric pressure, temperature, rain and wind velocity. At the end of each month, they were posted to the central Branch in Melbourne. These Meteorological Observations are an important accurate record of the local weather since the decades. They are part of Flagstaff Hill's Meteorological Observations collection of over seventy record books dating from the late 19th century. The collected information gives a picture of the weather patterns for the months and seasons, which then allows for warnings of events out of the normal or extreme, such as forecasting floods or droughts.Meteorological Observations, dated May 1945. The Johnstone family were connected with the Craiglea Winery in Sunbury from 1864 to 1883. It was established by James Johnston, the father of Wilfred Henry. Charles Johnston took over the winery in 1885 and in 1897 he purchased 'Kignane'. A cousin ran Craiglea until 1905A photocopy taken from an older portrait of Wilfred Henry Johnston. This is a Memorandum of Agreement between the Registrar of the School of Mines - William Henry Barnard and the Collector of Monies for the school - James Johnston Twining. It states the length of time the monies can be held by the collector - 48 hours. It then must be paid into the Union Bank of Australia, Melbourne, to the credit of the Council of the School. The Collector was paid Five Pounds per year plus Ten Percent in every hundred pounds collected at the end of each month. Either party could terminate the agreement.
