Has a short section of white on the top of the roll and larger section at bottom. It entered service 27/4/1928 and was withdrawn from service and sold in 1981. The tram's destination is shown as "Special". The tram has been fitted "T" lettered taillights. The second tram, 198, is a Q1 class single truck straight-sill combination tram built by the MMTB at Holden St Workshops. It entered service in 1923 and was reclassified as a Q class tram. It was converted to all night service in 1937 and operated until 1957. Printed in a "Courier Tourist" Section, gives details of the 100,000th passenger, BTPS history, that of the trams in Ballarat, closure. On the rear of the sheet continues story and gives details of the then BTPS fleet (14, 26, 27 & 28, 48 and 40). Notes that the BTPS had by then acquired No. 39, W3 661, W4 671, 33 and 11, 121, 35 and X1 463. Photograph, Black and White of MMTB trams. Both photographs have arrows drawn on them pointing to the top of the cross bench seating windows where the unique drop bar latches appear. These were apparently unique to this class of tram. .1 - K class No. 100 - probably about 1920. Note the twin trolley poles on this single truck car when new. This car also apparently entered service with air brakes. .2 - K class No. 97 - probably about 1920. Photo taken in Glenferrie Road Malvern at High Street. Keith has noted on both prints the in-service dates, though the MMTB had taken over around that time, both painted with "Municipal Tramways" lettering.In ink on the rear: .1 -" Melbourne K97 - probably about 1920 - In service 3.3.1920, with "Municipal Tramways" lettering though M&MTB formed 1.11.1919. No magnetic track brakes." .2 - "as above except for K100 and in service date of 25.12.1919. See Reg Item 7154 ...Yields information about the incidents/accidents that can occur on a street tramway system - collisions resulting in the rare virtual total demolition of a tram in Ballarat.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, front page, Thursday, 17 September 1970 with photo, of the collision between No. 20 and a semi trailer the previous evening in Victoria St. that wrecked No. 20. Gives quotes from eye witness, gives name of tram driver, Ian Maxwell Tierney, who jumped from tram before the collision, said the only passenger who was not injured was Miss Maree Bernadette Matthews about 17 of Reid St. Ballarat and the truck driver Ronald Frederick Cox 35 of Hickman St. was trapped in the cabin of the truck for some time. Accident happened about 7.30pm. Photo (see also item 1089 for print) shows by a white arrow where the woman was sitting. Also has a small inset photo in the top left hand corner showing a single truck tram. Trams have dash canopy lights, but no large white strip under the drivers windows. Photo not dated but appears to be at during early 1960's. Tram 18 has White Horse Whiskey ad on front dash panel, SEC Roof ads. Numbers of other trams cannot be determined. All trams have roof ads, including SEC ads and a CASTROL ad. Good view of the fountain and buildings on the north east corner. Has Ezywalkin store, City Club Hotel and other buildings. Shows traffic arrangements for cars to do a right turn from Pall Mall into Mitchell St. On a building in Mitchell St. is an advertisement for "ASTOR Radio"trams, tramways, charing cross, bendigo, mitchell st, aerial views, tram 18 -

The tram is a single ...Black and white photograph of tramcar 76 at Batman Avenue terminus in 1925. The tram is a single-truck California combination tram, one of 20 built for the P&MTT in 1915. The photo was taken at Batman Avenue in 1925 and shows a driver or conductor adjusting the trolley pole. The photo shows the Batman Ave terminus and Flinders St station in the background. Tram 76 was built in 1915 by the Meadow Manufacturing Co in Sydney for the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust before transferring to the MMTB in 1920. The J-class tram was bought by the SECV in 1931 and moved to Ballarat as tram No. 19. It operated in Ballarat until it was transferred to Bendigo in 1960 as tram No. 7, operating as public transport until 1972. It is now in operating condition at the Tramway Museum Society of Victoria in Bendigo.
