It developed from a four page flyer produced for the bus trip. Additional information collected on the day was collated and added to create this magazine/book. This book and a number of others like it were owned by the mother and aunts of the donor, Mrs Dorothy Boyle. They were prolific producers of hand knitted and hand made items of clothing and also knitted and sewed for the armed forces during the Second World War. This book is one of five issues of "Madame Weigel's Journal of Fashion" owned by Mrs Boyle's family.Fashion and craft magazine, paper cover printed in green and black with four drawings of jumpers/jackets and gloves being modelled. Contains an article on the Melbourne Transport Plan for 1985 and "The Tramways of Melbourne" written by John and Andrew Ward. Contains maps, photographs, tramcar roster, drawing of the Melbourne W2, details of the W7's, the St. Kilda Junction project. Also notes other Australian operations including Ballarat and Bendigo. The centre page has an additional duplicated orange page glued into the top of the sheet, from the Tramway Museum Society of Victoria, with a statement concerning the accuracy of the article. Also notes that one of the authors advised that the item had been largely re-written. Has a detailed article on a "OSBA Melbourne Tram Timetable" for cable trams. The Ballarat Tramway Museum has a copy of a similar document - see their Reg Item - 3661, c1920. Note the map shows the Footscray system. Timetable issued by Osboldstone & Co. (OSBA) - gives a detailed description of the timetable, photographs, reproduces the various pages and gives a short history of the Melbourne Tramways and comments on some of the advertisements. Dates the timetable to 1917 based on an advert in the August 1917 issue of a The Victorian Naturalist. This photograph is one of the first photos of golfing in Mt Beauty. It is dated 1948 and it pictures three high-profile Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme staff members having a hit of golf on a rudimentary course which was the fore runner to the beautiful golf course we enjoy today. This photo may have been published in one of the SECV magazines.Jack Giniff, Jack Ormerod and Lloyd Dunn were well known on the K.H.E.scheme. Booklet, Fragments from France No 3, 1916
This book contains World War One cartoons drawn by Captain Bruce Bairnsfather. It is one of a series of books by Bairnsfather showing that humour can be found even on the battlefields of France. The cartoons were originally published weekly in ‘The Bystander’ magazine. World War One was an horrific conflict that took so many lives and affected adversely so many others. This book is of antiquarian interest as a book dealing with World War One, a conflict that affected Warrnambool in the same way as it affected every other place in Australia. This is a soft cover book of 42 pages. It has a green cover with a cartoon sketch in sepia tones on the front cover and an advertisement on the back page. The printing on the covers is in black. The book has advertisements on the inside covers, a Foreword and pages of cartoon sketches of soldiers in World War One.
