In the 2000s Legacy released a range of Legacy Bears to expand the merchandise available for sale during Legacy Week and at other fundraising opportunities during the year. This bear is in an Australian World War 1 uniform and slouch hat. He was given the name Digger. The term "digger" was military slang for Australian and New Zealand soldiers. It became closely linked with the principles of mateship during World War I. This Digger bear reminds us of the endurance, courage, ingenuity, good humour, hardiness, and resourcefulness the ANZAC forces showed during the Gallipoli campaign and other WW1 campaigns. This was a special edition of the bears. In 2023 The Royal Australian Mint has released a Legacy Centenary Coin. The coin is available in a limited mintage of 30,000. The reverse of the coin features a sculpted interpretation of the Legacy logo torch cupped by a pair of hands with the title text ‘Centenary of Legacy • 100 Years of Service’ circling the design around the edge of the coin. The front side of the coin features the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse which will only be featured on coins made in 2023, making this coin even more collectible. The coin was released in two different presentation cards. This one retailed for $15. Further information on the unidentified object has not been available during preparation of this report, but it may be a buoy light, or perhaps even a solar powered rotating light made by Pharos Marine, New Zealand. Portable beacon lights were made with a plastic lens and an aluminium base and it is known that one of these was installed in the Gabo Island Lighthouse in February 1992. It was replaced in May 2006 and the lights are now no longer used within the AMSA network. The unidentified item, which can be described as a white painted conical object, appears to be associated with signalling, but more information is needed to confirm this. These items of equipment are presumed to relate to core lightstation functions and look to be in good condition. They have at least second level significance for their probable provenance and association with the theme of visual signalling and the use of navigation equipment for maintaining safe routes for shipping.Beacon and unidentified object (GILS 0095) The portable beacon is a small rotating light containing a lens and prism. The other item can be described as a white painted conical object.

The photographs are from his personal album, but have not been traced to any available online archive, so provenance has not been established. They are likely a mixture of personal, commercial and official naval photography. The set featuring Diggers in their Australian camp ore obviously original. The Heliograph MkV is a fascinating piece of historical surveying and communications equipment. It was primarily used for visual signaling by reflecting sunlight with a mirror to send coded messages over long distances. This method was primarily useful in remote areas where other forms of communication were not available. The MkV model, specifically, was widely used by the British Army and other military forces from around 1906 until the mid 1960s. It remained in use with the Australian Army Survey Corps until the mid 1980s. The device typically included a 5 - inch mirror and was often mounted on a tripod for stability. Initially the instrument was used to communicate between survey stations using Morse code to coordinate their activities. Later when better forms of communication were available they were used for precise angle alignment where the sunlight reflection from the mirror was targeted between the survey stations to give very accurate results. The MkV was relatively light weight and portable, making it ideal for use in the field. It could be setup and adjusted quickly. The heliograph had an adjustable mirror that could be tilted to reflect sunlight towards a distant receiver. Surveyors could align the mirror using a sighting device. Whilst it was primarily used by the Military it was also used in civil surveying particularly in the remote areas of Australia. This instrument was used as a training aid to help teach surveyors at the Royal Australian Survey Corps School of Military Survey. The other 30 ski clubs with 85% of the members disagreed and the politics of skiing became heated. These clubs formed the Federation of Victorian Ski Clubs with their own journal, Ski Horizon. With the establishment of the Victorian Ski Association, Ski-Horizon published its last issue in Nov - Dec. 1955 and the role of the official journal was fully taken over by “Schuss”. Round pressed steel badge with the words "All Lines" pressed into the badge around the top portion of the badge, the word "Car Works" and number "25" pressed into the lower half of the badge -with small horizontal lines within the individual letters. The tickets are printed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, with ELECTRICITY SUPPLY COMPANY in bold print. The tickets were produced for the Provincial tramways of Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. Row 1 of tickets has partitioned sections for Town, Year, Day, Month and Date and are available for one return journey on each route. Row 2 tickets can be nipped for the Town, the date, and a space has been left to hand write the full date. Row 2 tickets also provide a space for the Passenger's signature, and can be used for any route on the given date. The tickets are printed on cream or beige card with dark blue ink used for printing. The tickets are not transferable to another person.Row 1 Ticket 1, the years 1944-1945 and 1946 have been crossed out and replaced with 1947-1948 and 1949, printed over in red ink. Ric Edwards was born in Melbourne, but moved to Beechworth in 1962. He had strong associations with Beechworth Prison, which is now called Beechworth Correctional Centre after 144 years. Ric had a strong role in creating the education program for the prisoners. This oral history recording was part of a project conducted by Jennifer Williams in the year 2000 to capture the everyday life and struggles in Beechworth during the twentieth century. This project involved recording seventy oral histories on cassette tapes of local Beechworth residents which were then published in a book titled: Listen to what they say: voices of twentieth century Beechworth. These cassette tapes were digitised in July 2021 with funds made available by the Friends of the Burke.Although Beechworth is famous for its history in gold, the project by Jennifer Williams is significant as it captures the everyday life and struggles of residents living in Beechworth during the twentieth century. Ric Edwards story is significant as his story brings to light the prison system in Beechworth and it gives insight into not only Ric's role in the prison, but it also gives insight into the psychology of the prisoners.This is a digital copy of a recording that was originally captured on a cassette tape. The cassette tape is black with a horizontal white strip and is currently stored in a clear flat plastic rectangular container.
