The two men in the curricle were in Brook Street outside Sunbury Railway Station.Before the advent of motor transport and buses, passengers from the train were taken by horse drawn vehicles to their destinations. Set of seven Colour slides, Kodak, brown cardboard of the removal of the Elsternwick Level crossing on 28-5-1960 .1 - looking down into he cutting through the old goods yard - has the platform being installed. .2 - X2 675 crossing the new bridge with the level crossing in the background. .3 - L103, to the city, route 4, with the conductor watching the trolley pole. Has an advert for white horse whiskey. .4 - W2 269, route 4 to Carnegie, on the level crossing. Held up trams and others for about an hour and half. Notes the SEC used a replacement bus service. Gave the City of Ballaarat space to complain about the crossing and its need to be replaced. This letter from a 20 year old person in Leipzig Gemany. Written in German, Wal had to find someone to translate it for him. Letters dated 2-2-1958, 2-5-1958 and 28-8-1958. Not known who did the translation. The person was seeking photos and tickets. Two tickets are punched. The image is of a 2-6-0 tank locomotive overturned at the foot of an embankment.Demonstrates some of the correspondence that Wal Jack received from around the world.Set of three letters, translation, newspaper image, and two tickets.
