The paper gives the history of power supply in Ballarat, including street lighting, ESCo, AC and DC power supplies, the takeover by the SEC, Ballarat A and B power stations, a copy of an advertisement for the SEC in Ballarat. In September of that year, there were five goldfields districts in Victoria, each in the charge of a Goldfields Commissioner - Castlemaine, Sandhurst, Ballarat, Beechworth, and Heathcote. While the children were on their Beechworth Camp they visited the Chinese Cemetery in that town. The two grey buildings with the red roofs buildings are the ovens used for cremations and the altar is in the centre. The ovens were erected in 1857 and the altar was added between 1883-84. A number of Chinese came to the area seeking gold after the main gold rushes in the early 1850s.The existence of the Chinese Cemetery at Beechworth is an indication of the many different races of people arrived in Victoria own the 1850s seeking gold and spread across the Colony. The children from Bulla and MIckleham schools were attending a school camp at Beechworth and one of the activities was hiking in one of the nearby hills. The children were on a school camp at Beechworth. During their time at the camp they visited various places of interest as well as engaged in various activities. One of the activities was hiking to the Woolshed Falls and looking at the terrain. The three people were attending a school camp run attended by students, teachers and parents from Bulla and Mickleham Primary Schools. One of the activities the places the campers visited was a fish hatchery in the Beechworth area. Gail Page with her mother Lee and teacher, Carol Hitchens are standing beside one of the ponds at the hatchery. Students from Bulla and MIckleham Primary Schools attended a camp at Beechworth in 1988 where they undertook a number of different outdoor activities such as busk walking, fishing, visits to the Chinese Cemetery and boomerang throwing. In this photograph the children met with one of the local First Nation's people and were shown the art of boomerang throwing. Children from Bulla and MIckleham Primary schools attend a camp at Beechworth in 1988. While there they experienced a number of varied activities as part of their outdoor education course. The photograph was taken when the students from Bulla and Mickleham Primary Schools combined to attend a camp at Beechworth in 1988. During that time the children were engaged in a number of different outdoor activities as a component of their outdoor education. Recognising some of the native birds of the area was one of their activities where the children experiences the birds actually landing on them.The varied activities that the children engaged in at the school camp helped to give them a better appreciation and understanding of the natural environment.
