Image was originally copied by Chatham Primary School for inclusion in their pictorial history "A Patchwork of People - Chatham Past and Present" [ISBN 0 646 29370 2], by Susan Barnett and Julia Ashby, published in 1996 for the school's 70th anniversary. Copied for the SHNCHC with the school and donor's permission. There is also a laminated copy of it for display purposes.Black and white image of four boys and their billycart. Two photographs of Mrs Winifred Fotheringham who helped promote Legacy Week in 1990. She had reached 101 years of age. Mrs Fotheringham is also seen at the annual Commemoration for Students ceremony in April 1990 (in 00845) with two other widows which implies she might have been on the Widows' Club Committee, and also on a visit to the Shrine with a Legatee and another lady in 00579. It was with a group of photos from 1988 to 1990 in a folio with paper labels (see items 01042 to 01049). Edward, J.W. & Daniel are shown in the Rate Book 1862 as owner occupiers and owner of property in Tuckers Road, Bryants Road and Centre Road.Photograph is black and white. There are three women in this photograph, a mother and her two children. The mother is sitting down on a chair to the left and her daughter sitting next to her, on the right (they are both holding hands), and her other daughter (child) right in between her mother and sister, with he arm around the mother's shoulder. The telegraphs were originally a separate department in NSW and became part of the post office in 1893. After federation the use of telegrams increased until it peaked in the 1940s. The last telegram was transmitted in Australia in 1983. Social telegrams were encouraged and special pictorial forms and envelopes were designed. These sheets were issued with the book ‘The Practical Man’s Book of Things to Make and Do’ published in the 1950s by the Sun News-Pictorial newspaper. The authors were James Wheeler and W. Shum. The sheets provide simple drawings as a guide to making house additions (Summer House etc) and furniture (table desk, newspaper stand, book shelves, utility cupboard, drawer cabinet, corner cupboard). They were intended to be used by the home handyman. These sheets are of no particular historicalinterest but may be useful for display. They are a good example of the plans and information available to home handymen in the 1950s.These are six cream-coloured sheets of paper containing working drawings for making furniture and house additions. The drawings are printed in black and the headings and measurements are also in black print. The photograph shows a Northcote 6 window cable tram trailer being hauled by two horses to a new home - to act as a summer house for Cr. Plant of Northcote.
