A Legacy ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance. One of the annual "Anzac Commemoration Ceremony for Students" events, usually held just prior to ANZAC Day. The ceremony provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain an appreciation of the Anzac spirit, the significance of the Shrine and the meaning of Anzac Day. 00577.1 shows a school girl kneeling by the wreath inside the Shrine. 00577.2 is the choir on the steps of the Shrine. 00577.3 is President George Woodward at the podium. 00577.4 is the official party including the Governor of Victoria, The Hon Richard McGarvie and his wife. 00577.5 is the audience seated facing the Shrine. 00577.6 is the Governor and President Woodward leading the wreath layers up the steps of the Shrine. 00577.7 shows school students with wreaths and a bag pipe player walking up the steps. The proof sheet contains more images of the service, the choir, other speakers, and students holding wreaths. Would have been written as a base letter to go various bodies, has the word "Manager" on the very bottom of the page. Outlines the processes that have to be undertaken in order to install pipelines under tram tracks. These photographs are a pictorial and historical record of the photographer, Ronald George Thorn, of his days as an engineer with the SECV. Demonstrates and yields information about the considerations made for Weekly Tickets during the late 1920's.Set of handmade or hand written sheets regarding weekly tickets in Ballarat - using ink and pencil .1 - handwritten double foolscap sheet - titled "Weekly Tickets Ballarat" and dated 2/6/28 - sets out an extensive table of section, length, existing fares, present weekly and proposed tickets - 12 trips and 24? trips. Sets out conditions, current sales and notes. .2 - set of two Foolscap ruled sheets - titled "Weekly Tickets" detailing where they would be sold (the Showroom), the method of sales and accounting practices and when it can be used, reflects back to 1921 practices. The Melbourne Legacy created a widows' visiting group in 1981. Called the "Home and Hospital Visiting Programme". The visiting group was formed of widows who would visit women in hospital or their homes or nursing homes. This photo shows Julie Stewart and Ivy Greening and Edna Boag. The article mentions it was 'difficult to known who was visiting whom as Visits' Co-ordinator Edna Boag and Ivy Greening shared giggles and jokes.' It also mentioned 'many find it easier to discuss personal concerns with another woman and Legatees recognise this.' These photos are of widows visiting another widows and were featured in newsletters to inform widows of the existence of the group and that there were always friendly faces that could provide a comfort to widows in isolation.
