The mitre trimmer is a classic hand-powered tool for picture framers and trim carpenters that has remained relatively unchanged for decades. It is heavy, simple, and sturdily built of cast iron with tempered steel guillotine blades. It is used for taking super accurate, paper-thin slices off the ends of mitres and butt joints, and leaving behind a glassy-smooth surface. A booklet of a list of excursions that was arranged for the visiting members of the British Association for Advancement of Science which included Marysville. These excursions were conducted in August 1914. They included geological excursions as well as excursions to local attractions to observe the flora and fauna found in and around the various destinations. The excursions were to Bacchus Marsh, Marysville, Warburton and Cement Creek, the Macedon District, Emerald, Ballarat and the local district, Bendigo and surrounds, Wilson's Promontory, and the Central Research Farm at Werribee. Soldier's Pay book continuation issued to John Strobel Green VX32816. Born at Wonthaggi on the 19/4/1913. These books were usually carried by the soldiers in their battle dress breast pocket. They note personal details, rate of pay and promotions, and the place in which the soldier was paid each fortnight – effectively plotting soldiers' movements in the Army. From the pay book GREEN enlisted in June 1940, at the age of 27, before embarking overseas on 5 February 1941 for the Middle East. Inside the rear cover are two photographs of GREEN. Once they became engaged, the public developed a fascination for them—nicknaming them the “little couple.” Barnum used their engagement to publicize his show, parading the couple around to different nations’ leaders and placing newspaper announcements detailing their upcoming wedding ceremony. On their wedding day in New York City, over 2,000 people entered the church to watch the couple say their vows. In 1977, artist Annette Meikle undertook a commission to illustrate a book recording stories of places and people in the Bayside area. It was published in 1978 as Sandringham Sketchbook, with text by Elizabeth Waters. The sketches were intended to record remaining examples of Bayside’s early architecture and environment, as well as reflect newer architectural changes. Meikle went on to donate 22 of these sketches to Bayside City Council in 2003. Frederick de Kock first advertised as a teacher of French situated in Mr N Caire's photographic Studio, View Place. In 1882 he began teaching hand painting on ceramics. In 1883 he advertised as a photographer with his own studio on the corner of Mitchell and King Street, which was later named the Bendigo Portrait rooms. In December 1887 Mrs De Kock sold all her goods prior to a move to Sydney. In 1888 Frederick advertised as a representative of the Enlargement Company who was visiting Bendigo to take orders. Janet Brock, who at the time was working in the Central Business District of Melbourne, had stopped to admire a mauve version of the dress that was displayed in the window, and, on making inquiries from the proprietress, ordered a made-to-measure cream-coloured copy. Her marriage occurred shortly after the death of her father, and took place on 18 December 1971 at the Kew Presbyterian Church in Cotham Road, where the Rev. Peter Mackie was the celebrant. The Fashion & Design collection of the Kew Historical Society includes examples of women’s, men’s, children’s and infants’ clothing from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The wedding dress, reaching just below the knee, is lined in silk with a double outer layer of organza. The dress has a discrete v-neckline with small, self-covered buttons at centre front. At the back, the dress is closed with a nylon zip. The church in the photograph is the former Methodist Church which is on the NW corner of Barkly and Harker Streets inn Sunbury. It was built on land donated by Thomas Woods at Lot 14 Barkly Street where in 1870 a small weatherboard building was built. In 1879 John Browning gifted land at 13 Barkly Street for the building of a new brick church on that site. The brick church continued to be a place of worship until the June 1977 when the Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregational churches came together and worshipped as the Uniting Church. St. Andrews Uniting Church have been the owners of this building since that time. The Automatic Feeding Machine automatically dispenses wool to a carding machine, so that an even, constant supply is received. This eliminated the manual labour previously needed for the initial weighing and feeding of wool. To honour this establishments and those which had raised the most funds, a poster was produced listing each hotel and the amount that was collected throughout 1985. This Memorial was set up in memory of the nine people who drowned when the S.S.Casino sank in Apollo Bay in 1932.The cement plinth carries a bronze plaque with the names of the nine people who drowned on one side, the propeller, the wreck bell used to alert the lifeboat crew that there was an incident in the bay and for many years a large barometer that was consulted by the local fishermen before setting out to sea. Male handles Clarke & Smith talking book cartridges, placing one cartridge on a bookcase filled with numbered cartridges, whilst holding another two in his other hand. To the side of him is a cane basket that contains black mailing cases with silver reinforced corners and strapping. These cases were used to send the cartridges out to talking book clients. The Terminus Hotel was one of the earliest hotels in Wodonga, with clear links to the establishment of the railway line. It was an important business and meeting place from the original construction in 1873 until 1st June 1998 the Terminus Hotel when it was destroyed by fire. It provided a popular venue for social activities, including competitive darts, both through its own competition and as part of the Albury-Wodonga District Darts Association. The remains of the building were demolished in 1999. This is perpetual trophy for the Terminus Dart club based at the Terminus Hotel in Wodonga. This trophy recognises the winners of the Albury-Wodonga Darts Association Premiers 1985.The Terminus Hotel was an important meeting place in Wodonga for more than 100 years. The Koori Mural was designed by artist Megan Evans in consultation with a committee from the Aborigines Advancement League consisting of the late Lin Onus, the late Molly Dyer, the late Ron Johnson and the late Elizabeth Hoffman. It was painted by Evans and renowned Aboriginal artist Ray Thomas along with Ian Johnson, Millie Yarram, Les Griggs, Elaine Trott and a number of volunteers. The mural has considerable historical and cultural significance and refers to the experiences of the the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, from early colonial history to the more recent struggle for social justice. In 2014 the mural was replicated onto a vinyl banner and installed at its current site. The Northcote Koori Mural was originally located on Council land in High Street, Northcote, opposite the Northcote Town Hall. A huge, free-standing wall was built specifically to accommodate the mural which was painted on site. The land on which the mural was housed was later sold, however, and the mural was relocated to the Aborigines Advancement League in St. Georges Road, Thornbury. Conservation work in 2014 and original panels decommissioned and vinyl banner hung in its place (with Total Outdoor Media). In 2015 solar lights were installed along with landscaping to the front of the mural and a plaque depicting the history on the mural.

The diary written by Legatee George Blackwood which gives an account of the life of a Melbourne Legacy President in 1975, the people he meets, the places he goes and some humour. The forward was written by Legatee Ravenscroft who was president in 1983. The first few pages deal with the history of Legacy. Then there are the speeches that were spoken at the handover dinner when Legatee Blackwood was the outgoing president and Legatee Baker was incoming. The speeches had interesting facts and insights into the characters of some of the legatees. Subsequent pages included the day to day events that the President experienced under the title of President's Musings and Meanderings.There is much valuable information in this diary for all to read. There appears to be about 50 ladies in the photo with a two tour guides. From the sign it appears it was taken on 23 June 1993. The tour was run by Interasia Tours and advertised in The Answer. It was an 8 day tour to Beijing and covered places such as Temple of Heaven, Tiananmin Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Ming Tombs and the Great Wall of China. This album contains photographs of many Warrnambool buildings and scenes, including Proudfoot Boatsheds, St. John’s Church, Christ Church, Shelly Beach, Hopkins Falls, Sherwood gardens and buildings, Ozone Coffee Palace, Kepler Street, Sandstone Quarries and the Titan Crane on the Breakwater. The photographs have been taken and put in album form by the photographer Joseph Jordan. The advertisements of the hotels on the inside covers place the publication of the album to the years1891-2. We have another album similar to this but there are six photographs in this album (VC000799) that are not in the other album. These extra photographs are of the original gardens and buildings of Sherwood.This is a most important album as the photographs are clear and show a good cross-section of Warrnambool in the early 1890s. Some of the photographs are not represented in other collections (eg Sherwood gardens) and so are of vital historical significance. The advertisements are also of great use to researchers.This album has a brown hard cover and contains three pages of local advertisements and sixteen pages of photographs and 32 photographs back to back. The pages have been bound but some pages have come loose. There is a fold-out section of a 180 degree panorama of Warrnambool taken from Liebig Street hill. The postcard shows St Vincent's Hospital, on the northern side of Victoria Parade, Fitzroy, circa 1914. At left is the original hospital building, a converted terrace house, alongside the first purpose-built wing opened 1905 and the Cullen Wing (with facilities for medical students and residents) on the right.
