Uniform - Army Uniform, Captain MacInnes
Army issue uniform worn by Captain Alan Finley MACINNES, a MO at D Company 17th Garrison Battalion stationed at Camp 4 Tatura during WW2.Army issue jacket, trousers and hat, made in army issue material, olive drab colour. Hat has leather band and army badge. Material for the uniform is Berathea wool cloth with an open collar two epaulets and two metal subdued Australian Rising Sun badges affixed to the lapels. Unknown - Hat, Fur Felt, New Zealand, WW1 NZ felt Hat, 1916-1918
This head-wear was Introduced by Lieutenant colonel William Malone whilst in command of a New Zealand Territorial unit (Taranaki Rifles) just prior to World War 1. The hat's crown was said to mirror the outline of Mount Taranaki. The hat was formerly adopted by the New Zealand army in France in early 1916 and is commonly referred to as the 'Lemon Squeezer'. It is still in use for ceremonial purposes. Note: Lieutenant colonel Malone was killed in action on Gallipoli in 1915 during the battle of Chunuk Bair. Uniform - Cap, Mountcastle Pty Ltd, Buttons of Birmingham, c1950's?
Inspector's Cap - MMTB - green cloth exterior, brown cotton interior lining with black leather pad on the inside, black leather internal hat band, black cotton hat band on exterior with a black cord at the front half of the cap terminating in two small MMTB gold metal buttons on either side, black plastic external peak and green on the inside of the cap. Hat band has two gold bands or braids around the outside of the cap. Has a manufacturers lable inside the cap - made by Mountcastle Pty Ltd of Melbourne St South Brisbane. Has two holes where the badge would have been fitted. Set of two uniform coat buttons (approx. 16mm dia) are made by Buttons of Birmingham UK. Both button have metal eye hooks on the rear. .1 - Set of 9 Tramway Union badges and other badges pinned to a piece of heavy blue cloth with sewn edges comprising 5 Public Transport Union (PTU) badges, three Australian Tramway and Motor Omnibus Employees Association (ATMOEA) badges, three The Met number lapel badges (Nos. 1121, 2416 and 3817), one RSL tie clip and one tie clip with a wheel inside a black background, with a "LEGA" .2 - AMTOEA badge in a plastic bag as would have been received by the member - brass back with pin clip on rear with blue surround and red around the state name. .3 - PTU badge in a plastic bag, brass, with clip missing, black surround, with red vehicles, green map of Australia and yellow around the map. Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Co. Ltd Rules and Regulations by which all operational staff were to abide by. Provides separate sections of rules for Gripmen and Conductors, with Special rules for both roles, collection of fares and use of Bell Punch, transfer and check tickets, Collectors (Conductors acting as collectors on the dummy or grip car), signalmen and shunters. Printed by Sands & McDougall. Date of issue has been damaged by silverfish - Mr H A Wilcox was appointed Secretary in 1909, becoming General Manager in the Tramway Board which succeeded the private company in 1916. Rule 76, page 21 allows for the wearing of the Australian Tramway Employees Association union badge. The Union was recognised by the Company in August 1912 and the wearing of Union badges on watch chains was permitted. A possible date for the document is 1912. The banner and frame were carried by representatives of the 38th Battalion during parades..1) Rectangular red cloth banner with gold coloured fringing sewn to the bottom edge. Red cloth loops are sewn onto each side and the top to facilitate attachment to the metal frame - see .2). Printed on both sides in gold, black and white - '38 Battalion AIF'. The '38' is printed on a replica of the 38th Battalion colour patch. .2) Rectangular frame in khaki coloured tubular metal. Each corner is clamped and secured with bolts and wing nuts to allow for the frame to be dismantled.
