Book, Kaberry, Phyllis M, Aboriginal woman : sacred and profane, 1939
Dr. Kaberry's work is a distinct contribution to our knowledge of Aboriginal life, and to our study of the position of women. I regard it as an honour not only to be privileged to write the Introduction to her book, but also to have been closely associated with her work both in the field and in the study since her post graduate days. Book, Robinson, Roland Edward, The man who sold his dreaming, 1977
Blurb: The title of this book is taken from the story of an Aboriginal who sold his 'dreaming', or sacred tribal birthright, to the white man for five sovereigns and two bottles of rum. In collecting and reporting these stories, Roland Robinson has retained the style of speaking of each Aboriginal narrator. The stories are actually verbatim narratives, and Robinson was taken by his Aboriginal friends in New South Wales to visit the sacred mountains, rivers, rocks, and waterholes that are featured in this book.143 p. : ill. ; 18 cm.Blurb: The title of this book is taken from the story of an Aboriginal who sold his 'dreaming', or sacred tribal birthright, to the white man for five sovereigns and two bottles of rum. Various PartiesReference, Research, InformationArranged by Secondary Values (value of records to users)The Sacred Heart Church was built in 1900 along Cotham Road, at the corner with Glenferrie Road. Based upon the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, it acted as a replacement for visiting priests from Richmond who could only afford one or two trips a month. Its church is very prominent, housing a large dome on the roof that renders it an extremely recognisable building. The church also hosts a primary school on the property. The file includes: Newspaper articles around both the church and school, two copies of a centenary history of the church, and letter sent in-regards to the gifting of these histories.sacred heart church – kew (vic.), sacred heart primary school – kew (vic.)sacred heart church – kew (vic.), sacred heart primary school – kew (vic.) -
