The agreement is outlined in the letter in what appears to be Chinese characters, and includes the marks of Robert Lundon and Soon Hang Hi. File note from Joy Wu states that the calligraphy is not Mandarin or traditional Chinese. 2/Three sheets of hand-written working notes with information taken from the Victorian Government Gazette on THE ROSSTOWN AND MURRUMBEENA LAND COMPANY LIMITED, THE ROSSTOWN JUNCTION RAILWAY AND PROSPERITY COMPANY LIOMITED, and THE ROSSTOWN JUNCTION, ELSTERNWICK, AND OAKLEIGH RAILWAY COMPANY LIMITED, covering dates between 1887 and 1894. The notes concern meetings and creditors claims relevant to the companies, with reference numbers for the information source. Date and author of the notes are not recorded. 3/A black and white photocopy of the a partial map of the Rosstown Railway and surrounding area, undated. This file contains one item: 1/A draft of a plan for a museum exhibit from the Spirit of Enquiry Workbook, by Denis Shephard, and dated 07/08/2007, pertaining to alternative energy research within the suburbs of Melbourne between 1950 and 1980. Much of the content is irrelevant to Glen Eira. However; one of the two principle subjects of the exhibit, discussed between pages 20 and 28, is the work of Ted Pritchard, who was based out of Caulfield. Ted and his father, Arnold Pritchard, aspired to reinvent the steam engine for use within the contemporary era. To that end, they fitted a Chevrolet pickup truck with one of their prototypes – with the result being one of the main items constituting the exhibit. Ted’s interest in steam power had been spurred by a working tabletop model of a steam engine that Arnold built for him – which constitutes another of the exhibit’s items. Also included is a brief history of the development of Caulfield. This annual report was one year before the opening of the new tertiary division at Mt Helen. Council decided to retain the overall title "The School of Mines and Industries, Ballarat" for the foreseeable future, but to separately name the three divisions as follows: 1. Diploma School - The Ballarat Institute of Advanced Education (A division of the School of Mines and Industries, Ballarat) 2. Trades School - The Ballarat School of Industries (A division of the School of Mines and Industries, Ballarat) 3. Secondary School - The Ballarat Technical School (A division of the School of Mines and Industries, Ballarat). The annual report also foreshadowed the Centenary of the School (and technical education in Australia) in 1970. Speaker at the trade Prize Night and Apprenticeship Week was W.J. Anderson, and Craftsmen Certificates were presented by the Ballarat City Council. A number of quarto pages with stapled inside a brown card cover. The report was for the year ended 30 June 1969, and was delivered by Ballarat School of Mines President M.B. John. Page 5 lists the Diplomas awarded. Page 6 lists the scholarships, prizes and awards, including the Josephine Brelaz Scholarship, Martha Pinkerton Scholarship, Frank Pinkerton Scholarship, Mica Smith/Serjeant/Ironworkers Scholarship, Ballaarat Has Comapny Scholarship, Ballaarat City Council Scholarship, R.W. Richards Medal. Page 8 covers buildings and accommodation. Conditions were cramped at Lydiard Street , with conditions hoped to be improved when the Stage I buildings at Mount Helen were completed in the following year.
