Notes the introduction of the E class tram. .1 - DL full colour booklet, 24 pages with a questionnaire response form, outlining the Route 96 project to speed up trams providing route segregation for most of the distance. Issued 2013. Provides concept designs, Blyth St terminus, easy access stops, tram lanes. Gives dates for meetings. .2 - fold out full colour map, 8 folds, printed both sides providing details of the planning for the various stops and segregation between Victoria Parade and Blyth St.. The loss of car parking and issues with the Fitzroy St St Kilda stop met a lot of opposition. The Blyth St terminus was rebuilt June 1015. Two copies held., both were originally contained within a plastic wrapper. One wrapped version obtained when collected. Produced by Public Transport Victoria. In 1934, the Shiplover's Society of Victoria organised an exhibition of 170 maritime artefacts, photographs and paintings on the barque Shandon berthed on the Yarra river to celebrate the Centenary of the foundation of Melbourne. The exhibition was opened on the 10th of October 1934 by the Lord Mayor, Sir Harold Gengoult Smith and ended on the 17th of March 1935. The catalogue lists all the items on display. This bridge over the Snowy River was opened on July 4 1922. It was constructed in 1922 alongside the previous suspension bridge. Its building was a combined effort of the Victorian Railways and the Country Roads Board at a cost of 35,000 pounds. It was replaced in 1976 by the present bridge after several major floods. Tait collection: item 35 of 62 This is a document giving details of the Letters of Administration following the death of Alexander Gibson McPherson, a farmer of Rochester, Victoria, in December 1883. He died intestate and left an estate worth £215. The beneficiary was his sister, Mary Wright of Somerton. No other details are available on Alexander McPherson. The lawyer in the case was Ernest Chambers who had legal offices in Port Fairy, Warrnambool and Koroit at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. This document was in his possession at his Warrnambool office and passed down to successive lawyers occupying legal premises in Kepler Street. The document was found in the same building, the former premises of the legal firm, Mackay Taylor, where it was located in 2014 and handed over to the Warrnambool and District Historical Society.This document is only of interest as being originally in the possession of Ernest Chambers, a lawyer who was in Warrnambool for several years at the end of the 19th century. No connection between Warrnambool and Alexander McPherson has been found. This is a cream-coloured sheet of parchment paper, folded twice. It contains hand written material in brown ink giving details of the Letters of Administration following the death of Alexander McPherson of Rochester in 1883. A seal of the Supreme Court of Victoria is attached with a green ribbon and it has ,a black stamp of the Master in Equity of the Supreme Court of Victoria. One page has been ruled at the edges with brown lines. The writing is somewhat faded but the document is legible. The dinner took place at the Town Hall, Melbourne, and was attended by the Governor, Sir Rohan Delacombe, the Hon. Don Chipp, M.P., the Premier of Victoria, Sir Henry Bolt, and the Lord Archbishop of Melbourne, The Most Reverend F. Woods. The insert has information for guests and is indicative of traffic movement on Swanston Street at the time. The document was found with other papers of President D.J. Simonson who would have been one of the guests since it took place during his presidency. This is a de-luxe edition of a 1984 facsimile publication of Edward Vidler’s 1907 book, ‘Sixty Years of Progress’. The facsimile book was published by the Osburne Group, a group of three Warrnambool men who reproduced several books that were out of print but were important in Warrnambool’s history. The facsimile book features the photographs and text of the original 1907 book alongside photographs and text concerning Warrnambool in the 1980s. J.B. Dwyer, who was given this de-luxe edition, was a prominent 20th century lawyer in Warrnambool. The original Edward Vidler book was produced to mark the sixty year anniversary of the founding of Warrnambool. It is a very rare book today but it is very important because it featured many photographs hitherto-unpublished and an accompanying text that is deemed today to be very accurate in historical terms. Edward Vidler, a publisher, writer, journalist and editor, was in Warrnambool in the early 1900s and, through his membership of the Warrnambool Progress League and the Chamber of Commerce, was responsible for initiating many improvements in the town and he was also responsible for organizing the making of the Pioneer Honour Board with its portraits of 204 pioneer men in the Warrnambool district.This book is of interest as a de-luxe edition of the 1984 facsimile publication of the Edward Vidler book, ‘Sixty Years of Progress’, a 1907 book on Warrnambool’s history. The reprinting of Vidler’s book enabled many researchers and others interested in Warrnambool’s history to access the Vidler information more easily as it is now rare to find a copy of the original Vidler book. This is a hard cover book of 120 pages with 90 pages of text and a biographical register, a bibliography and an index.
