The Public Transport Union was formed in 1993 from the various Australian Public Transport Unions, see reference. It was renamed as the Rail Transport and Bus Union in 1998 to reflect the impact of privatisation. Demonstrates a badge issued to members of the PTUBadge - Public Transport Union. The badge is made on a brass backing with the words "Public Transport Union" on the outer edge of the badge with a black enamel background. Ephemera - tickets, Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), Schollar's Concession Tickets & others, 1976
The two Scholar's Concession tickets for first and second terms of 1976 allowed the holder to travel from Wattle Park to Latrobe university via a nominated route with the conditions of travel on the rear. Cost was $34 for each ticket. Ticket Nos. 06423 and 07189. Both issued at Camberwell Depot. The Employees Pass was issued to those who did not have a pass issued to them personally, such as travel to and from a training facility. The person to who this was issued to was a MMTB employee. The MTT Perth Ticket dated 20 Feb. 76 is a machine issued bus ticket recording ticket issuing details.Demonstrates a scholar's tickets issued during the mid 1970s.Set of two scholar's concession tickets, preprinted card with hand written details, providing the persons name and travel details, both contained within a plastic sleeve. Uniform - Badge, Stokes and Sons, mid 1910's
... Trams tramways Badges Employees Pass TB Workshops Tramway Board ...Pressed metal uniform badge for the Melbourne Tramways Board, workshop staff, available all lines. Round pressed steel badge with the words "All Lines" pressed into the badge around the top portion of the badge, the word "Car Works" and number "25" pressed into the lower half of the badge -with small horizontal lines within the individual letters. Has a brass finish with the Melbourne Tramways Board logo in the lower part of the badge. On rear badge two metal lugs have been soldered onto the badge and a leather strap with a button hole cut into to enable it to be worn on a uniform. Leather strap secured with wire. Used possibly from mid 1910's when the Board was formed until it was replaced by the MMTB in 1921. Set of three documents concerning the MMTB Gratuity or Pension payout scheme. .1 Top half of an A4 photocopied sheet, with a tear off slip, titled "To all employees who elected in 1955 to remain under the provisions of the "old" gratuity scheme", giving employees the option to transfer to the new scheme (see item .3), asking to return the slip by 5/9/1981. .2 - Letter, stencil cut duplicated on quarto paper on MMTB letterhead, dated 9/5/1955, advising Ron Wearne of 31 Soudan Street Malvern that he has elected to remain in the present or "old" Retiring and Death Gratuity Scheme. Typed on Loadable Parchment watermarked paper. Signed in ink by H. A. Warner Secretary. .3 - Printed document on semi gloss paper titled "Notice to Employees Retiring and Death Gratuities" setting out the comparison in payments between the old and the new schemes that was to come into effect on 1/6/1955. Has a comparison of the scales on the rear of the Notice. Dated 31/3/1955 and printed Signed by H. A. Warner Secretary. Illustration of Driver John (Jack) O'Callaghan and a conductor at a terminus or short working with tram W 342. Has the dates regarding the tramcar's working life on the top of the illustration. Advised by Donor that Jack was a "tram employee" between 1919 and 1922, a Gripman - 1924 - 1925 and a Motorman 1928 - 1931. After that he was a signalman. The photo was possibly taken at an opening of new track event. Scanned from an original photograph by the donor and sent to the depot when visiting about organising a tour. Tram crew in full uniform of the era, driver holding the controller and brake handles. Certificate, Hawthorn Tramways Trust (HTT), "Hawthorn Tramways Trust - Certificate of Competency as Motorman", 1919
Bound book of 100 Certifications - "Hawthorn Tramways Trust - Certificate of Competency as Motorman". Consists of 100 pages of certificates, numbered 1 to 100, with butt of each certificate retained in the book. Bound with heavy card covers, red coloured on the outside of the covers, stapled with black binding material. Each Certificate numbered, in top left hand corner, giving date, employee name, date of birth and signed or initialled by the Engineer and Manager. In the top left hand corner of the book is printers logos - The Prahran Telegraph Printing Co, King St, opposite Town Hall, telephone 108W. Most certificates issue 29.12.1919. Certificates 1 to 58 issued by HTT 59 and 60 issue with HTT crossed out and MMTB written in. 61 to 75 and 92 to 99 removed from book and No. 100 removed altogether. No. 74 is loose.
