A 'Lone Pine' was planted at Caulfield Racecourse in 1995 to mark the 50th Anniversary of the end of World War II - as part of 'Australia Remembers'. Wooden crosses were installed in the grass verge of the Shrine in 1995 to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. It was called the Field of Remembrance. These photos show some of the crosses, and with The Shrine in the background. The Field of Remembrance was publicised in editions of the Answer and featured on the cover of the October 1995 edition. The field of crosses was part of "Australia Remembers 1945 -1995". Crosses were available without charge (but by donation) at kiosk near the Shrine and names and unit numbers could be added and the cross placed in the Shrine grounds. The crosses were later gathered and burnt with the ashes being scattered on 11th November 1995. In the April 1997 edition of The Answer a poem was published that was written about the crosses. From an article in The Answer newsletter December 1995 edition there was a Remembrance tour to Canberra for widows in 1995. 1995 was the 50th Anniversary of the end of World War II and there were remembrance events all over Australia as part of 'Australia Remembers'. The ladies are standing at the Changi War Memorial, Duntroon. The article says: "On 5th August, 32 members of various Legacy Clubs journeyed to Canberra on a 4 day Remembrance Tour. A wonderful time was had by all. The whole tour was wonderfully organised. We got off to a very cold and wet start, even to snow on the way, but by the time we reached our Motel the sun was out and it remained out all the time were were there. The highlights of my trip personally were Duntroon, The War Museum and Parliament House. It was great to met all the other Club Members and to establish friendships. In 1995 Legacy was promoted by a tram painted with 'Legacy never forgets' as part of the "Australia Remembers 1945-1995" program marking the 50th anniversary of the end of World War 2. The president was David Millie and his report covers disabled dependents and the activities of widows clubs. The report also recaps events through the year such as the school students' Anzac commemoration service, legacy week and the public speaking contest. Up to the 1980s the annual report would usually contain pages containing the Presidents report and photos of significant events of the year. Between 1987 and 1990 these were published in a separate document called 'Highlights from the Annual Report'. This could be used in promoting Legacy in different ways, without all the financial information normally held in an annual report. In following years it became called 'Report from the President' then 'Highlights from the President', before becoming 'Melbourne Legacy Highlights' which was published twice a year from 2007.
