Map of the MMTB Tramway routes 1925 with a list of first and last cars, along with photographs of Wattle Park, Luna Park, and Studley Park. Provides information for the Prahran and Malvern lines, Hawthorn, Footscray, Essendon, Coburg, Kew, St Kilda, cable tram routes, and buses. Also provides information for passengers. The cover photo is of the front of W 296, with the destination of Esplanade. The map is dated by the opening of the line to West Brunswick as far as Albion St, the City Road to St Kilda line via Sturt St lines, and the electric line in Flemington Road which were all opened during mid to late 1925. Falls Creek Historical SocietyJournal - Schuss Vol. 24. No.7 September - October 1958
Schuss was advertised as Victoria’s Official Ski Journal It was issued monthly from 1935 to 1961 except during the war when summer issues covered two months. This continued after the war, but it averaged 10 issues annually over its 25 year life. Schuss was published by the Ski Club of Victoria which had a membership of 38 Ski Clubs and demanded to be recognised as the prime authority on skiing in the state. The other 30 ski clubs with 85% of the members disagreed and the politics of skiing became heated. These clubs formed the Federation of Victorian Ski Clubs with their own journal, Ski Horizon. With the establishment of the Victorian Ski Association, Ski-Horizon published its last issue in Nov - Dec. 1955 and the role of the official journal was fully taken over by “Schuss”. This item is significant because it contains stories, images and information documenting the development of the ski facilities at Falls Creek.The journal features stories and events chronicling developments in Victoria and internationally. The cover features an Eric Burt photo of the Eastern slopes at Hotham with Feathertop in the distance. Page 293 has a photo of John Robertson of Myrtleford Ski Club who was chosen to lead the Australian Ski Team in New Zealand for the Inter-Dominion Contest in September. Page 296 announced that Mt Beauty was judged as the leading town in Victoria for Tourists in the recent City Development Association's Premier Town Contest. Page 300 included the results of the NEDSA Championship held at Falls Creek in August. Reference is made to the proficiency of Fred Griffith in producing copies of the results for all involved. Page 303 featured the Swiss Cheese Fondue Recipe from the opening of the Ski Club of Victoria Rooms as requested. It also included an article "A week at Sky Line" written by Junior Member Keith Sloane. Page 305 provided the results of the N.E.D.S.A Junior Championships held at Falls Creek. Page 311 featured an article "Off the Beaten Track' written by J. L. Provided by Peter Vergers (junior) through Neville Burns.Not sure of author - either David Penny or Peter Alford, as per inscriptions on the document. Covering the years from 1901 to 1980. Also partially on RCC website - http://ringwood.vic.cricket.com.au/content.aspx?file=217|37459h. Note that the last paragraph of page 44 should read, "While the 4th Eleven Pennant was intended to close up this brief history, we cannot possibly finish without the tremendous news that in 1979/80, the fourths again got into the Final again led by Jim Myerscough and again won. They were set 295 runs to win and finished with 9/296. Plenty of heart attack and blood pressure material there! The star performer was Stephen Crump who made 138. While he would be the last to agree there is little doubt that the "Myerscough" guidance and skill played a major part in the victory and history will show that many of these lads gained enormously from Jim’s guidance and would go on to outstanding individual successes with the club." Also note that much of the Ringwood history seems to have been copied from the "Place of Many Eagles" book. Some further research on Trove has revealed that a Ringwood team was playing in 1886. -
