Then by Heath in 1947 while training 1947 contender, Les Pianter.Heath, Deane and Pianta were Nagambie locals. Les Pianta accidentally shot himself in a shooting accident so failed to start. The winner of the race - Jack Baker was a cycling commentator In the 1920s, in the 1930s he cycled around Australia. In 1937 he rode in Europe and England representing Bruce Small for Malvern Star. Jack was well known for his commentary at races at the Geelong velodrome track after the war. This is the medal won by Peter Grundell in 1913 for the fastest time for the Novice 10 Mile Road Race.Peter Grundell was the first notable secretary of the Geelong Cycling Club.
