Specimen Cottage in Hargreaves Street Bendigo was built by stonemason James Brierley in 1856. He purchased the land at the first land sales in 1854. It is possibly the earliest building still standing in Bendigo. The Peterborough Sandcastle competition has run for at least 50 years and is a highlight of the summer holiday season.
