Celebrations for the 80th Anniversary of Legacy were held in the grounds of Government House in 2003. Photos include the President David Ford speaking to the crowd and some of the junior Legatees with disabilities. The note with the photos says: "Legacy's 80th Anniversary Function Over 1200 people recently attended Legacy's 80th Anniversary Function. The sun streaming through the picturesque garden surroundings at Government House contributed to the success of the day. Many of the guests enjoyed catching to the success of the day. Many of the guests enjoyed catching up with friends and acquaintances that go back a long way. Some had not seen each other for decades and there was much excitement renewing old friendships. Photos feature a rowing regatta on Lake Wendouree, a Tram stop shelter (Grenville and Sturt Streets) decorated with hand-made flowers, an arch in Main Road built by local scouts and the Burke and Wills Statue in Sturt St decorated hand made flowers. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. This booklet was compiled for the anniversary celebrations of the Orbost Municipal Band on November 8, 1975. It was compiled by Peter Fagg who worked as a scientist with the Department of Sustainability and Environment (now DELWP) to study dieback in eucalypts. He specialised in the silviculture of the eucalypt forest types of South-East Australia for most of his 40-year career, which started with the Forests Commission Victoria. He was in Orbost from 1968 - 1973. The first Orbost Brass Band was formed in 1889. Around 1908 the town band split and the Orbost Workers' Band was formed. Eventually the two bands merged in 1913 to reform as the Orbost Municipal Band under conductorship of Charles Spink. The band continued for many years but was later disbanded and again reformed. This was to happen a number of times, the last time being in 1961 and continuing through to the late 1970's. This tin matchbox was manufactured as a souvenir to commemorate the centenary of European settlement of Melbourne and Victoria in 1934-35. This celebration was important as a sign of better times after the 1930 Depression.This is an every-day souvenir item which can be linked to a significant celebration in Victoria. A souvenir matchbox holder made of tin with paper labels. It is U-shaped with transfer images whcih have a cellulose acetate coating. This is the program for the dinner celebrating Warrnambool’s 150th anniversary. Warrnambool was established in 1847 as a planned town in response to the need for a new port to be established to service the pastoralists who had occupied land nearby. Superintendent La Trobe authorized the establishment of the town and probably gave it its name. The surveyor of the 250 acre grid that today comprises most of the Central Business District was William Pickering.
