One of the milk bar's window was decorated with the stock for the1969 Easter celebrations. Anastasia took great pride in the presentation and displays in her shop as evident in the window display in this photograph. A coloured photograph with a surrounding white border of two window displays in adjoining shops. One is displaying groceries and the milk bar has an Easter display. -

BLAND, MANAGER OF THE PORT PHILIP GOLD MINING CO. SHORTLY BEFORE WORLD WAR ONE, THIS SCHOOL BECAME VICTORIA,S THIRD HIGHER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. TODAY IT IS STILL USED TO EDUCATE THE CHILDREN OF CLUNES STATE SCHOOL NO. 136 WAS BUILT IN 1881 ON THE SITE OF AN EARLIER TEMPORARY SCHOOL THAT WAS BUILT IN 1857. Taken in 1877, this photograph features nine members of the Beechworth Volunteer Fire Brigade holding a cup that was awarded to the group for winning the double hose competition. The cup is currently on display in the Burke Museum's 'Street of Shops' display Report of the event in the Ovens and Murray Advertiser, 3/4/1877 - The Fire Brigade Competition was held in Beechworth at Easter 1877. The double-hose competition carried a prize of ten pounds with an entry fee of ten shillings. The task was for eight men to run with reel 200 yards. fix hydrant, run out not less than 100ft of hose, fix branch, and throw water over rope 10ft high. Run out a second line of hose, not less than 100ft, fix branch, and throw water as before. Beechwoeth first team competed against Wangaratta and Chiltern, coming first in a time of 70 seconds. This is one of a collection of several hundred photos, books, documents and teaching aids donated to Langi Morgala Museum by Jessica Norman-Bail (or by her estate). Almost all the collection relates to Jessica's mother, the photographer, artist and educator Mary Norman-Bail, and to Mary Norman-Bail's Pathfinder School, which was located in Ararat for several years in the first half of the twentieth century.
