Work on paper - Nursing study notes on the composition of solutions used in nursing care of wounds Circa 1925
The solutions, detailed in their chemical composition, were used in nursing practice for wound antiseptic, cleaning and management. Solutions noted are Biniodide, Boracic, and Concentrated Saline. Nurses were expected to know how to prepare these solutions to the right concentrations. Eg Concentrated Saline Zi of salt to Zi of water. Certificate - The Royal Victorian Trained Nurses Association Certificate for General Nursing for Ethel Charles 1911
First constituted in 1901 the Royal Victorian Trained Nurses Association "introduced a uniform curriculum of training and examination to establish a benefit scheme for nurses and to generally promote the interests of nurses" The printed certificate has Ethel Charles of St Vincents Hospital handwritten in black ink. The certificate has three sigatures of President, Member of Council and Honorary Secretary recorded. -

The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo.
