Original sheets in poor order forwarded to Bendigo Tramways June 2005, contained within Zetta Florence foolscap size polypropylene enclosures, along with a set of the colour laser prints. All tickets printed in black ink, and the word "cancelled" written across the face of the ticket in red ink unless noted otherwise. Sheet 1 - not received at time of donation. Yields information about the closure of the SEC operated Ballarat system - presented in an unorganised manner and without newspaper dates.Set of about 5 newspaper clippings glued to a sheet of lined paper. Main cutting titled "Nine trams may be kept in Ballarat", from The Courier Ballarat, 18/8/1971 (can read date through the back paper), about the number of trams to be kept in Ballarat, the BTPS, removal of the overhead. Other cuttings note the provision of bus stops in Ballarat, a hail storm the previous day (Friday 17/8/2005), floods, the derailment of a tram while on a tour for the Ballarat North Technical School, employment of those employees who had been retrenched and two letters re the replacement of the trams, including the aims of the BTPS to operate in Wendouree Parade. Significant in being a detailed set of instructions for the Forest City signalling system that was operated by the tram's trolley pole. Details of the locations and crossing loops where used, primarily around the loop and through Bridge St. and how it operated. Prepared and printed by the SEC during 1965.Five page, foolscap duplicated document, stapled in two locations along the top edge, titled Forest City Signals, and dated 20-1-1965, giving details about the Forest City signalling system installed in Ballarat. Explains how the system operates, gives instructions, details of the system, location of the loops, trams following each other, power failure. Follows on from Reg item 261 an earlier version, but with less detailed instructions and no explanation.Two foolscap duplicated sheets titled "Special Order to Motormen (49/1)" giving instructions regarding 1) Responsibility (for trams), 2) Relief on the road, 3) Controller key, 4) Air brake handle, 5) leaving tram unattended with definition, general precautions, special precautions - such as parking the tram at Lydiard St North, parking trams at City Loop and 6) an explanation on the braking system at either end of the tram. The drawing is very detailed showing streets, cross streets, route, loops, schools, woollen mills, ovals, sections, track phones, stops, route and track miles, pedestrian crossings, railway stations and notes on through route mileages.Print of a drawing showing in very good detail, the schematic layout of the Geelong Tram system. Produced in 1953 and sent to Tramway Supt. in 1970 for his records. Three pages of statistics - Income, Expenditure and loss 1935 to 1936, - includes car miles., operational statistics, expenditure breakdown of the SEC era. The last three years of operational statistics have been filled in by hand. Probably prepared late 1960's by Les Denmead (assumption here - See Reg item 3289 and 3483 for Bendigo version)Yields historical notes and statistics on the Geelong Tramway system - the statistical information being the most important. Yields a viewpoint of the time of the editor of the Geelong Advertiser in relation to the continuing loss of the Geelong trams. Mentions the Bell report.Newspaper clipped from The Geelong Advertiser, 11-12-1950, Editorial, titled "Running at a loss". Writes about the losses that each of the three provincial systems incur, SEC control, notes the Mr. Bell Jnr report on the three systems and the recommended abolition, and the charge they make on the SEC. Notes give history of the SEC's operation of the tramway, the reconditioning, their condition, lack of capital expenditure, rolling stock and track age, possible abandonment, but finally, we must solider on. Appears to have been written for staff and explain the lack of capital expenditure on the system, but we must continue to run a safe and reliable system.Yields a information about the history of the SEC in Bendigo. Almost apologetic in its tone in not spending enough money on the tramway system.
