Flag - King's banner, 1920; case 1976
The King's Colour was presented to 8th Indi Light Horse in 1920 for service in the Great War. It, together with the 1904 Colour, was laid up in the Anglican Church Benalla. In 1976 both colours were found in a cupboard at the church. The 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles Regiment arranged for a case for the colours to be mounted on the wall at the church. In the early eighties it became necessary to remove the case to allow building work at the church and the case and colours were donated to the 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles Regimental Collection.Representative example of a King's Colour dating from 1920 presented to a Light Horse Regiment with a close connection to regional Victoria. It is well provenanced, and mounted together with the 1904 Colour making it a rare object indeed.Rectangular Union Jack flag (King's Colour) fringed with maroon and gold cord and mounted in a stained timber, glass fronted case, together with a second flag of similar appearance; The case has three engraved metal plaques affixed to the lower case.On plaque under flag: "The King's Colour presented to 8 Indi Light Horse August 1920 For service in the Great War". Plaque in the lower right corner of case: "This case was presented by the 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles 1976".king's colour, flag, 8th light horse regiment -

Photograph - 1926 Hudson Super 6 - Riversdale and Warragul Roads, Ray Pearson, 1930s
Photograph of a 1926 Hudson Super 6 parked at the tea room/kiosk on the intersection of Riversdale Road and Warragul Road. Distinguishing features of the car include the triangular badge on the radiator and the unusual disc wheels. The 1926 Hudson also had horizontal radiator shutters. On this vehicle, a finer mesh has been attached in front of the shutters. This is normal practice when insects such as locusts are in plague. At the time, Warragul Road was known as East Boundary Road. Behind the car on the tramway pole is a colour light tramway signal for the single-line section between Warragul Road and the terminus. On 1 July 1928, the Wattle Park line was extended from Boundary Road via Riversdale Road to Elgar Road. It was built as a single track with a passing loop about halfway along, plus a passing loop at the former Boundary Road terminus. The tramway pole has a stop sign and a telephone box as well. In a box of negatives received is an envelope noting the car was owned by Ray Pearson and photo taken during the 1930s. Inside the motor car are two people, the driver, and a lady. In the background is part of the tea rooms located at this corner with a Shell gravity-fed petrol bowser. At the time, petrol was not sold at Service Stations on a Sunday - Sunday trading laws, but they allowed Tea Rooms or kiosks to be open.Yields information the intersection of Warragul and Riversdale Road and MMTB single line signals.Black and white photograph on Velox paper. On rear in pencil "Colour light signal Wattle Park Route, down end loop line, corner of Riversdale and East Boundary Roads".trams, tramways, riversdale road, wattle park, warragul road, motor cars, hudson super 6, shell fuel, signalling, single line, ray pearson -

Uniform - Battle Dress jacket, trousers, lanyard and neck tie, 2nd Half 20th Century
This battle dress uniform dates to the latter half of the 20th century. It was issued to the “Prince of Wales’s Light Horse’ Regiment however the date of issue for all items is unknown. A Prince of Wales Light Horse unit was based in Kyneton, a neighboring town to Woodend. This uniform likely originated from the Kyneton area. The jacket and trouser style was still in use during the Vietnam war in which the Regiment participated. Considering the condition of the item, it is highly likely that the uniform has not seen active service. This battle dress uniform is representative of a type of standard issue Army uniform, dating to the later half of the 20th century. It is also in very good condition.Khaki, wool jacket with yellow lanyard over the right shoulder. Prince of Wale's light horse embroidered on a yellow flash, stitched on both shoulders. Cropped style with two pockets on front, four khaki buttons and waist belt. Two epaulets and a manufacturer's label on inside left hand side.
