Anniversaries Celebrations William Alexander Morton 1920s 1990s George ...This unopened small bottle filled with port was produced to acknowledge the Sunbury Sub Branch of the Returned Services League of Australia's 70th Anniversary in 1993. The bottle has a short story of the Sunbury sub branch having been given official recognition on the 10th December 1923 by the RSL. Major William Alexander Morton D.S.O was the patron and also the first president of the Sunbury Sub Branch.Small cream with brown spots ceramic half size bottle with a black seal covering top of bottle the seal has a very small chip out of seal. A banner promoting Legacy that was used at the ANZAC Day March 1973. 1973 was the Golden Jubilee of Legacy's creation in 1923. Many celebrations were held and this banner was proudly displayed as the Legatees marched together in the Anzac Day March instead of marching in their individual battalions.A banner that was used in a significant celebration of the golden jubilee of Legacy.Canvas printed banner with nylon cord at each corner. Photos of the 50th Anniversary Dinner on 6 October 1973 held at Chaucers during the Legacy Conference. (date to be confirmed) 00452.1 shows 6 men with Legacy Torches lined up along the front of the high table. A caption found when the photo was published elsewhere says 'On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Annual Conference of Legacy Clubs of Australia, held in Melbourne in October 1973, the Chairman of the Legacy Co-ordinating Council, Legatee George Cowan, presented an illuminated Torch emblem to the President of the capital city Legacy Club of each of the six States. Members of Legacy are determined that the Torch shall continue to burn brightly throughout Legacy's second half century of service to dependants of deceased ex-servicemen.' Based on the newspaper clipping from The News, (published by The Courier) Ballarat, 2/9/1981, "Colour the Tram", as part of the colour competition by the BTPS for the 20th anniversary of the closure of the tramways in Ballarat. Has a drawing by David Frost of No. 14 picking up passengers. Detailed the closing date, judging criteria and the prizes.
