Tram has destination of 'Sebastopol', head lights and marker lights turned ready for departure from the terminus. Sides painted in Gold, with white around windows and roof, and lettering in red paint. TMSV photograph. On Agfa paper. Colour photograph of TMSV tour photo for the 60th anniversary of electric trams in Ballarat in August 1965. Photo of Ballarat No. 18 photographed alongside MMTB AEC Regal Mk III bus, No. 543 (42 seats) (Reg. No. HJG 543). No. 18 has a specially painted board over the front of the tram "60th Anniversary / Electric Trams / 1905 Ballarat 1965". Standing between the tram and Bus are Les Denmead, D. Irvine, J. Dowd and T. Young. Both vehicles showing "Special" and standing on Ballarat depot fan. Photo also appears in "MMTB News", Oct - Nov. 1965, Reg. Item 2719.7. Dave Macartney advised 19/11/01 that other the other official guests at the event was Mr. F. K. White, Manager Ballarat SEC. Also attending was W.J. K. Dunstan. Photo of a privately operated bus in Swanston St. Melbourne at the intersection of Bourke St., with Foys (Foy and Gibson) department store in the background. Bourke St. trams yet to be built. Photo taken 10-4-1950. Also has the Cosmopolitan Hotel in the background. From information provided by the Bus and Coach Society of Victoria: "The bus outside Foys belongs to Lew Page who was one of the multiple operators on Route 1 in 1950 ( he also had one bus on Route 2) which was four years before they amalgamated to form Melbourne - Brighton Bus Lines. The bus is a Reo with a Giles body. Giles Motor Body Works was based in New Street Brighton and built bodies for commercial vehicles but not a lot of buses. Their half a dozen post-war buses mainly went to operators in Routes 1 and 2. Being on Route 1, the bus would have been red and cream." Small photo of ESCo tram at Lydiard St. and Sturt St. Corner 4. ? - Picor and Widmer moving stock across Bridge St. blocking tram to Victoria St. ca 1960. One Panel is Ballaarat song - taken from Ballaarat's Historic Committee - home to Ballarat Souvenir Program 1927, authors Reginald Stoneham & Will A. Bevan. Set of three newspaper clippings pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side. First clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, 2/4/1971 with photo of tram 28 after is collision the previous day with a semi-trailer at the intersection of Princes and Victoria Streets. Gives names of the vehicle drivers and cost of the damage. Photo is of the tram returning to the depot under its own power. Tram passenger named as Margaret Foley, tram driven by James Mason and the truck driven by Gerald Winter of Gordon. See Reg Item 672.1 for a print of the Courier Photograph. Second is from The Courier, Ballarat, 15/4/1971 of the Brown Hill Progress Association chartering a tram to create interest in the project for the retention of Ballarat's trams. The tram was to leave Drummond and Sturt St. intersection the following Sunday at 1245. Item mentions the election of an interim executive and expression of interest of people outside the city. Third is from The Sun, Melbourne, 31/5/1971 about Ballarat 'tram-lovers' deciding to have a working tramway museum. Quotes Mr. Paul Nicholson, a member of the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society. Notes that Museum will have eight trams using two miles of existing track around Lake Wendouree. Also notes that the SEC had received 88 applications for the 44 trams in both Ballarat and Bendigo.Image of the 3rd item added 28/3/2011 - see i1 and for the actual cutting i4. Yields information about the closure of the SEC Ballarat system in particular the Victoria St line. Has a strong association with the article author.Set of two Newspaper clippings pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side with one hole through the photograph within the cutting. Clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, Monday, 23/8/1971 (corrected date), of two items in the paper about the closure of the trams in Victoria St. The main item written by a staff reporter recalls the days of travelling regularly on the tram when a student going to and from school, Saturday travelling and as a means of transport. Second item in the same cutting reports on the closure of the Victoria St. route the previous day. Mentions the interest in the trams, the BTPS, and police protection that was not needed. Photograph accompanying the article is of a driver turning the pole at the Victoria St. terminus of tram No. 31. Series of black and white photos of SEC Ballarat 30 by Lindsay Bounds, late 1970, early 1971 on 8" x 10" prints. 840.1 - tram 30, city bound, at Bell St. Loop (?) crossing another single trucker. Tram has destination of Lydiard St. North. 840.2 - trams 13, 30 and 18 and another single trucker at the depot gates, all showing Depot or Depot via Drummond North destinations - possibly on a Sunday morning. 840.3 - Trams 13 and 30 on the north side of Drummond St. north, with Sturt St. Mansions buildings behind. Winter photo. Tram 30 has Lydiard St. Nth destination, while 13 has Victoria St. 840.4 - Tram 30 crossing Sturt St., bound for Sebastopol with Post office in background. 840.5 - Tram 30 in Victoria St. bound for Gardens via Sturt St. West. 840.6 - Tram 30 crossing Sturt St. at Drummond St. bound for Lydiard St. North. Framed certificate for the Registration of the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society under the Museum Accreditation Programme, dated Dec. 1993. The certificate signed by Weston Bate (Chairman Museums Advisory Board), Paul Clarkson (Director Arts Victoria), Annette Shiell (President Museums Association). Framed with a metal glazed frame, with two sheets of heavy cardboard and heavy black card with cut outs for hanging or standing. Badge - SEC pass, Employees Pass badge No. 127, c1950?
Stamped enamelled round brass piece with a hole stamped at the top and ring placed through. Used as a SEC tramways employees pass. Has the SEC logo in the centre, organisational name (State Electricity Commission of Victoria) in white enamelled and outer ring the words "Electricity Supply Department, Provincial Tramways". This was in blue enamel. On rear stamped the number "127" Was issued to Mr. Adam Balloch, carpenter with the SEC depot. Had a piece at the top of the badge for the ring to pass through, but this has been damaged and transferred onto the badge proper.tramways, trams, employees pass, tickets, provincial tramways, badges
