In 1927 Mr A. K. T. Sambell built a pier, planned and subdivided a residential estate, designed and built Summerland House, where ardent golfers after an enjoyable day on the course, could relax. Summerland House was built by local builder Mr Vic McRae. House and land packages were available in the areas of Bundoora surrounding the Loyola and Parade College sites, which were monasteries in the 1960s.
