Jonathan Harris operated a winery on the banks of the Axe Creek, Axedale in the 1850s.A large metal rake with a wooden handle. The head 67 centimetres across two centimetres wide and one centimetre wide. attached to it are 12 square tines that are one centimetre square, tapering to half a centimetre and are five centimetres long. It has some yellow paint on it. The wooden handle is 144 centimetres long and three centimetres diameter. Two thin strips of two centimetre wide thick wire have been added. This 1891 document contains the information on the Will and Probate of John Gould, an engineer from Russells Creek. No information has been found on John Gould except that he died in October 1890 at the age of 67. The solicitor, William Ardlie was a well-known Warrnambool lawyer, commencing a practice in 1865 and continuing well into the 20th century making him at the time one of the longest-serving lawyers in the British Empire. Tait collection: item 10 of 62This document is of interest in that it includes information on a resident of Russells Creek in the Warrnambool area, and also the lawyer concerned is William Ardlie, one of the best-known identities in Warrnambool in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.This is an 1891 piece of parchment folded in half to give four pages of written material. This material is handwritten in black ink. A seal of the Supreme Court of the Colony of Victoria is attached with a green ribbon. The document is somewhat discoloured. ‘In the Supreme Court of the Colony of Victoria in the probate jurisdiction in the Will of John Gould, late of Russells Creek near Warrnambool in the Colony of Victoria, Engineer, deceased, Probate. The sons of a spirits dealer, Andrew and John Usher created one of the world’s most successful blended Scotch whiskies, Old Vatted Glenlivet, and played a key role in building the North British distillery. But they were also responsible for one of the most misunderstood lawsuits in Scotch history – the trademark battle for ‘Glenlivet’. Iain Russell reports. Three badly damaged paper labels on the back. A mirror is mounted on a one centimetre thick, 67 by 43 centimetres wooden frame with 18 centimetres by three centimetres decorative extensions on all sides. there two pieces of metal on the top to hang the mirror. A box nine six by four centimetres is mounted on each side, one is labeled MATCHES and the other CIGAR CUTTER both have ANDREW USHER & Co written on them. Shepparton RSL Sub BranchTin, Foot Powder, c. 1960s
This foot powder tin may have been manufactured for use by troops in Vietnam, if the inscription "P.D. 5/69" might refer to it's manufacture in May 1969. Khaki coloured rectangular tin constructed of a rectangular base with rounded edges, attached to one long rectangular section bent into sides, another rectangular piece with rounded edges forms the top. In top of tin, a screw on lid with seven punched holes allows the contents to be shaken out of the tin. Content residue still visible on lid but appears that the tin is otherwise empty. From the labels and note this is a film of a Fashion Parade held by Legacy for fund-raising purposes. It was recorded by the Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) and the film given to Legacy. The full details are not known except it was held on 24 July 1967 as this film has not been watched.
