Set of 6 drink coasters, with a felt back gold plastic front with an impression of a Melbourne tram contained within a black finished cardboard box. Each coaster has the imprint of the MMTB emblem. Photo of ESCo No. 8 - side on view of tram. Has Driver standing by front of tram, a person, possibly conductor standing by rear, though tram set up for one man operation. Good detailed side view of tram, showing arrangements of blinds, seats etc. Has "Suttons Pianos" advertisement on side and "Pictures Coliseum tonight" ad on the inside middle window. Tram has been converted to have windscreens. Three ladies on the front seat section of the tramcar. Date unknown. Post 1912. Tram still has magnetic brakes. The step section by the seats has not been covered over with sheet metal to prevent people standing on the steps, as shown in later photographs. Four page (two sheets of A4 - double sided) on gold paper, printed as a Tour Booking form for a tour of Melbourne tram lines, titled "W3 661 Tram tour - Melbourne Revisited" for 27/5/1989. The tram was on loan at the time to "Yappa Tours" from the BTPS. See first and second paragraphs for details of the tram being in Melbourne. Also contained on pages 1 and 2 are notes on W3 class trams, their history and dispersal. Pages 2, 3 and 4 give details of the tour and the booking form. Tram has the destination of City, Route 42 and an Advertisements for Ford exhaust systems. In the driver's window is the run number "K38" Behind the tram is a W class tram that appears to be showing route 17. Photo could be early 1990's, route 42 became route 109 in 2003 when the extension opened to Box Hill. Route 17 ran until 2/1997. Having a run number will also assist in dating the photograph. Photograph shows W class 307 standing on slightly curved track displaying destination "Victoria Bridge" and no route number box attached. The uniformed motorman and conductor stand on the roadway next to the front driver's cab where the trolley pole has been tied down. The conductor wears his coin bag and the driver is holding the tram's key and air brake handle. An elderly male passenger with coat stands at the drop-centre doorway and other passengers are inside. The car body of W 307 was built by Holden Motor Body Builders in South Australia in 1924 as part of a large contract to build W class trams. Victoria Bridge was the termini of both the Collins Street and Victoria Parade cable tram that closed in 1929 and the Mont Albert electric tram from Union Road, via Whitehorse Road and Kew Junction. Photographs show the front, side and rear views of male and female models wearing the new brown coloured tram crew uniforms. They include male jacket with gold buttons, trousers, yellow shirt and brown tie. Female brown jacket with gold buttons, skirt and roll neck scivy. These uniforms were introduced for tram crews on the new Z class trams that entered service from 1975. These trams were painted in a distinctive orange and cream livery with brown coloured internal fittings. The photographs were taken against a plain cream wall with brown skirting board and carpet, possibly in part of the uniform factory at Hawthorn Tram Depot.
