Small red band at top, white band with letters CARS STOP HERE and large red band underneath, on both sides to indicate to drivers a compulsory stop. That is, all tram to stop at the location. The same sign was used for the same purpose in Melbourne. Has three holes for screws on the upstand or folded section. See item 9570 for a "HAIL CARS HERE" version. Newspaper Clipping - from The Argus 28 October 1940, titled "Last of Cable Trams / Quiet passing after secret send-off", about the closure of the Bourke St cable tram routes the previous Saturday nights when the trams were withdrawn prior to the schedule time and replaced by buses.
