Alec Cameron was one of the young boys in this photograph. He was the son of Robert Pullar Cameron who was an early settler on the Orbost flats. Alec, (like his sisters, Flora and Penuel) had a beautiful singing voice. He married Annie Nixon and had children, Frank, Wilfred, Dorothy, Alice, Edie and Isobel.This item is a pictorial record of the social life of young people in Orbost in the first half of the 20th century. Horatio David Collier was born in Castlemaine in 1857 and died in Bendigo in 1914. In 1894 he married Maud Alice Bedson and by 1896 he was described as a cabman in Bendigo. By 1906 he was a retail boot merchant in Hargreaves St and this remains Colliers Shoes. John Ferrier was employed on the farm of the Sundermans. In July 1900 he shot Alice Aubrey, sister of Mrs Sunderman, at Dawson near Heyfield. She was shot in the back whilst hanging out the washing. Arthur John Faram was a Real Estate Agent and Auctioneer in South Melbourne. He was married to Caroline Crook Faram and they had children Jack, Herbert, George, Louisa, Dick, Frank, Tom and Alice.
