In 2005, members of the PMH&PS undertook a study of the residents of the houses in a Port Melbourne street precinct from the 1880s to 1960. The area is bounded by Evans Street, the E side of Bridge Street, S side of Williamstown Road, Farrell Street both the E & W sides plus the section of Ross Street between Farrell and Bridge and the part of Derham Street between Farrell and Bridge. The resulting map and an interactive CD won the Best Community Research, Registers & Records project at the 2007 Victorian Community History Awards. Team Road Races were a popular feature of club cycling in the Western District of Victoria during the second half of the 20th century. The shield was initiated by the Camperdown cycling club to record team winners of the races held between the clubs in the Western District of Victoria. This shield has an important place in the history of cycling in the Western District of Victoria. A large wooden shield with silver coloured plated plaques containing inscriptions of team winners of road races in the Western District of Victoria. There is a smaller shield in the centre of the shield depicting a cyclist and above and below this are banner like plaques with inscriptions on them. Many of the inscriptions have worn with age. This is one of a series of Aboriginal rings which are found in the Sunbury area. The Ball Court Hotel was built in the late 1870's by John Cahill. It remained with the Cahill family until World War 2. The Lupson family were the hoteliers for 20 years after WW2 and in 1973 the McPhersons rebuilt the interior and added air conditioning to the building. The Ball Court Hotel is the only surviving hotel from Sunbury's early settlement.A coloured photograph of the side view along Macedon Street of the Ball Court Hotel showing the public bar in the original building, the Take-away area and the bistro. The original section of the Ball Court Hotel despite many exterior changes has not over the years undergone great structural changes since it was originally built in the 1870's by John Cahill.A coloured photograph of the original part of the Ball Court Hotel on the corner of Jackson and Macedon Sreets. The series of seven photographs highlight examples of vandalism within the town centre precinct. Most of the vandalism occurred on public buildings. The disused cottage was owned by Alec Lloyd who was the fruiterer in Sunbury. It was situated on a sheep run on the Diggers Rest-Toolern Vale Road and was destroyed by fire in the early 1990's.A coloured photograph of a weatherboard farm cottage in a paddock with tall gum trees behind the house. The mud brick cottage and outbuilding was possibly built by James Waylett in the 1850's and it is only one of three remaining mud brick buildings in the Oaklands-Greenvale which were constructed in the late 19th Century.A coloured photograph of farm scene. 'Dunhelen' is situated on the Mickleham Road at Greenvale. The rear of the homestead was constructed in the 1850's and the original owners were Richard and George Sinclair Brodie who emigrated from Scotland.A coloured photograph of part of a porchway of a house. The granite coach house and kitchen are part of the Glen Loeman complex which is situated on Loemans Road in Bulla. Most of the buildings on the estate were constructed in the 1850's. The first owner of the property was Michail Loeman and his wife Isobella.A coloured photograph of outbuildings. The pitched roof is slate clad and is partly moss covered. The grey stone chimney stack at the end of the building is finished with a simple cornice. The stone walls are constructed in a random rubble pattern. There are two doorways. The wider doorway has black timber doors and is finished with an arched stone lintel and the smaller doorway has a straight stone lintel. The Kaolin quarries at Bulla were an important industry in the district and supplied clay products to the Cornwell and Hoffman companies in Brunswick. The Kaolin deposits were found in the 1850's and were considered to be some of the largest in the colony.A landscape photograph of a valley with a post and wire fence and a partial view of a farm gate in the immediate foreground. The former bluestone Bulla Shire Hall building was constructed in 1867 and remained the centre of local government until the early 20th century when the administration was moved to Sunbury. In the 1990's the Alister Clark Rose Garden was established in the surrounding grounds. The garden is open to the public all the year round.
