Created for the memorial service that was held on friday 20th may 1910, held in front of the shire hall in Heathcote to honour king edward VII who died on the 6th may 1910 at 2.30 p.m. this was arranged by the local ministers of religion at the request of the president and councillers of the shire of McIvor.Believed to be the only one in exsistence, after intesive research have been unable to come up with any information, from the shire, local churches or senior members of the community,only mention was in the Bendigo Advertiser newspaper.research in to archives further afield have not produced another.Piece of cream silk printed on face and inside, screen printed in purple and black ink on front and inside the order of service. details of all ministers of religion and shire dignitries as well as hyms sung. A.W. Hughes was a student of the Ballarat east Sloyd Centre, Eureka State School, in 1905. His instructor was Albert W. Steane. This journal has been produced in 1905 for the Government of Victoria under the direction of the Minister for Agriculture, the Hon. George Swinburne, M.L.A. It has articles on agriculture in Victoria, including an article on how to increase and improve our dairy products and an article on the Grasmere Butter Factory. This journal produced in 1905 is of considerable interest because it has an article on the inspection of the Grasmere Butter Factory and the resultant erection of a new building on the site. Dairying is a major industry in the Warrnambool area and this journal contains important historical information and photographs.This is a soft cover journal of 68 pages (pages 482 to 550 in Part 7 of a journal). The front cover has a black and white photograph of a wheat harvesting scene. The back cover is missing. The first two pages have advertisements for insurance and banking firms. The journal contains black and white photographs and statistics tables. The pages show considerable silverfish damage. The photograph is undated but a black and white copy in the 'Linton School - Photos' file is dated c.1905. Head Teacher at this time was A.J. Horan, and he is probably the male teacher in the photograph, wearing a suit, on RHS. Lily Bonthorn and Annie Sandow are marked in ink dots on the photograph and identified by inscription on the back of the photo.Original/sepia photograph of Linton school children, taken in corner angle of brick school. In June 1866, Aimé Marchand (1846-1910) made a series of fourteen photographs which were submitted to the 1866-67 Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition, where they earned a 1st Class Honorable Mention. This is one of those fourteen images. Of French or Belgian origin and possibly formerly an assayer in California, Marchand appears to have begun his practice of photography in Tarnagulla around 1865 as an assistant to A.B. Clay. By the following year he had settled in Portland, where he opened the Royal Photographic Studio in Gawler Street. From his base in Portland he toured surrounding districts, offering portrait and view services. Little else is known about his life. He appears to have left Australia in 1878. A misprint of his name in a local directory as Annie Marchand created the misconception that he was one of only a few named women photographers in the colonies. This booklet was given to subscribers to the Warrnambool Standard newspaper as an almanac for the year 1905. The Warrnambool Standard Almanacs were published yearly from 1875 to 1930 and contained information for the residents of Warrnambool and district about local government officials, businesses, harbour management, churches, schools, banks, large landowners, societies and organizations etc. The Warrnambool Standard newspaper was established in 1872 and continues to this day. This booklet is of high significance as it contains much valuable information on Warrnambool and district for the year 1905. It is a very important research tool for those studying and writing the history of Warrnambool and district. The original owner of this booklet is not known. This is a soft cover booklet of 94 pages plus several pages of advertisements. The cover is pink with dark blue lettering and two blue and grey illustrations of Warrnambool. The spine is partly torn away. The front cover has some indecipherable writing and the word ‘Warrnambool’ handwritten twice in black ink. The boy on the horse, William, was born in 1894 and worked in Bentley's timber yard for many years. The house was still in use in 1965 but has since been demolished.
